Hair sacked??
Quote:
The International Cricket Council has refused to comment on reports that Australian Darrell Hair has been removed from its elite umpires panel.
News agencies quoted an unnamed ICC official saying Hair would no longer officiate in international matches.
It was a claim also made by Indian TV but an ICC spokesman said no decision would be announced until Saturday.

he is banned.
Quote:
Darrell Hair, the Australian umpire who accused Pakistan of ball tampering during the Oval Test in August against England this summer, has been banned from umpiring in internationals. The announcement was made by Percy Sonn, the ICC president, at a press conference in Mumbai at the end of a two-day ICC meeting.

Bangladesh team management and captain endorses hair's removal. From cricinfo...
Meanwhile, Faruq Ahmed, the Bangladesh chief selector, backed the ICC's decision too, saying that Hair had committed a gross misconduct by penalising Pakistan five runs at The Oval without sufficient evidence. Habibul Bashar, the Bangladesh captain, felt that Hair could have handled the situation in a more diplomatic manner.
"I think what the ICC has done is the right thing," Bashar told AFP. "Hair should have spoken to Inzamam and explained things to him before bringing charges of cheating against Pakistan. He does not understand what sort of stress a captain faces during a Test match."

I strongly feel that the whole Hair situation should and and could have been handled more sportingly and much earlier for the interest of the spirit of cricket by the ICC. Where it landed in the end left not much option for easy escape. Probably the 'Knight group' (Eng, Aus & NZ) either underestimated or ignored the depth of concern and amount of fire the rest of the test nations had been holding back for so long.
I don't think the asian umpires are any better but bad umpiring should be addressed promptly as well as strongly. "Human error" should not provide escape route for each and every umpiring mistakes. The match fee can play some role in reducing mistakes. Hope ICC would take heart from this.

Hair made things worse for himself by sending that email to ICC. Its more likely he got banned for that than accusing Inzamam's team for ball tampering. Injustice in cricket has been happening since the game has been invented, its nothing new.
But its good riddance to bad rubbish. Its either he is racist or he doesn't know how to umpire a game properly.

He looks much older than my dad...even though he's 42. Either way, I miss his running between the wickets. We call Inzy lazy...he was Inzy's guru in lazyness.

Read these articles. The one from daily telegraph implied that Hair was an angel. Typical English and Aussie response.
"The most pathological comment is Any umpire who in future makes a decision which angers one of the Asian Test-playing countries — India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh — can expect the wrath of the Asian bloc to descend upon his head. Such is the financial clout of India that they can usually carry South Africa, Zimbabwe and West Indies with them to achieve a 7-3 majority." Can some one remind him the followings
1. asian teams are always victim of umpires wrong decesion (if not bias), match referries harsh treatment. For example:
for the same offence Rashid Latif banned for five matches and Geraint Jones reprimended. Salim Malik, Azhar banned for life; Shane Warne , Mark Waugh have been fined.
2. India could not change MPA or media right cluase ICC event.
