I think they will give us a time line like 6 months or so. If we can do well before that time line comes then we will not hit the suspension.

Dropping Bangladesh from test cricket would be a backwards step. Test cricket would go back 16 or 17 years to when there was only 8 test nations

I think that India, pakistan, SL, WI and maybe NZ will vote against suspending BD test status, but England, australia and SA will vote for suspension( cant blame them)
Or the alternaive might be playing Tests at home and only travelling to those countries who genuinly wants to host BD.

BD cricket board should be blamed for this, for they do not have a good domestic structure. It seems that they do not care or have no clue. JS has been very critical of this. They have not bothered to make a bouncier wicket so that the batsmen can play fast bowlers in SA, NZ and Australia. SL being a tiny island and always under the threat of terrorism has a much better domestic structure in place. They play more games in the longer version and have better domestic coaches

Anyhow, we will know at the end of the month, but it seems that BD will continue playing until ICC makes a new FTP in 2010.

I actually don't mind if they relegate us to playing only at home. Better for our team. However, teams that would like us to tour (im sure Pakistan at least would like SOMEONE to come) should be allowed to host us.

However full relegation is a backwards step.

England wouldn't win a Test in Dhaka against the current bunch

I'm down with Home Tests but they have 3-5 Tests no more Mini 2 Test Series

Well it's a Telegraph piece - which is a Tory mouthpiece. These buggers would have had articles 40 years ago on why brown people should not serve in an official capacity. The day Guardian starts spewing this I start getting worried.

Thnx man, I was beginning to get very anxious.. trouble with us is having enough back-up players to keep the cuurent players (in the team) honest. Thnx to a crappy board and a badly-organised first-class tournament, we do not really have this. Players like Mahbub Alam and Shuvo are only now coming out of the system. Other thing is- we do not have a consistence in selection so many good players feel insecure, whereas some bad ones keep being bad... Look at how they just dropped Mahbub. At the end of the day, we'd only get better when we play more, and ppl (read:attention-seekers) from england, who've never helped us, can shut their pie-hole.

It is very easy to put wholesale blame on the cricket board. However, it is necessary to understand the complete picture. I think the board is doing a good job right now. Jamie Siddons criticizes about the infrastructure. It takes multiple years to build up cricket infrastructures. First class cricket tournament in Bangladesh was first created around the time Bangladesh started playing test cricket. It takes decades to create facilities for this sort of tournament. Therefore it is understandable that infrastructure is not going to be satisfactory right away. Bangladesh is a poor country and it does not have the luxury to throw money at the problem and solve the issue quickly. I think BCB has taken some great steps to increase popularity of the game and increase competitiveness in the first class tournament.

I was reading the ICC future tour program and BD is playing test cricket until 2012.

Also, I spoke to a relative of mine here ( one who knows someone on the board in BD,)a nd that person is not worried, he says that Tony Greig can moan and groan all he wants,(he has no voice to influence the ICC,) but the ICC will not do it. Also. Zim withdrew voluntarily from Test Cricket, they were not booted out by theICC as is reported at times. Booting out a full member from Test cricket by the ICC is not so simple.

Actually i wont be very disappointed if the test status is reaped off.

Out infrastructure (which was not improved much by BCB as it should have in 8 yrs) and non stop idiotic decisions by BCB of trying out kids (i know they didnt have options sometimes, but its also their fault b/c they werent sincere enough to create infrastructure) are the reasons of our position in test cricket.

So, reap it off, may be it will teach the BCB some lesson, i still doubt that.

Based on BD's performance in the second test against SL, the Board's feathers might just be ruffled by the ICC. The FTP is planned until 2012, so ICC might allow BD to play until then and if there is improvement then their Test status will not be revoked.

By "improvements" they'll definitely want some wins. Around 4 or 5 test wins coupled with several draws will do the trick.

fix the batting (mainly the top 4) and BD will become a respectable team. some players are showing signs of maturing (shakib and rahim), hopefully some of the others will follow (i expect raqibul and tamim be the first to follow suit). but tough to say where BD will be in 2012, it's still a couple of years away and tbh BD did improve a bit in 2008 even if it doesn't look like much on the scorecards.

Oh boy, we are in deep sh*t now!
If we ever needed a win, it was this series.
Even for those who are ready to back us up and fight for our cause, we need to give 'em something.

This sh*t is about to hit the ceiling soon.
Here cometh the naysayers who'd be firing in all cylinders.

I agree, BD did improve a bit in 2008, but still the passion and hunger to win is not evident, players crumble under pressure, cannot defend their wickets, become intimidated by a stronger side.
Mentally, they are not tough, cricket is mostly a mental game and when they overcome this weakness, then they can improve.
they also need rigorous coaching camps, not just afew days before an international match begins.
JS should know this, and work more diligently with these young guys.

We keep on beating ourselves. Look at Dilshan, in his 9-10 year career, he had bowled 113 overs and his stats read - 678 balls, 314 runs, 7 wickets. He finished with 10 for 4 from 4.2 overs against us. That is after scoring 305 runs in two innings with a SR of about 90. He is a very dependable batsmen but this was probably his best performance in a test match. You don't need a Muralitharan or Jayawardene to beat us, Dilshan is enough.

Same thing with New Zealand. Vettori is a capable player, however, we made him invincible. Just compare his stats against us and then against the Aussies or even his overall stats.

That's probably not the same definition in our teams book.
