Tamim should not face first
Why does Tamim always face the first ball? I was going to open this thread a while ago, but forgot.
Any player of his caliber, with so much weight of the team on his shoulder, should get a chance to look at the pitch from the non-striker end so that by the time he faces the first ball he will have a good idea of the pitch as well as the bowler operating. I know a good player should not have the fear of facing any bowler on any pitch but the fact remains, we don't have too many Tamim in our team and if he gets out because he didn't get a chance to understand how well a particular bowler is bowling or how the pitch behaving on the given day.
Take WI game for example. How Roach's fast balls were going to come to the bat was basically mystery and he paid the price by going after a wide ball that was fast but also stayed rather low. And for me, I'd rather Tamim was on the other end watching Imrul getting a taste of Roach first and make a game plan for himself.

True that. Even Sachin starts from the non strikers end.

Should we put up another ad in PA? Are you up to it? May be someone with Tamim's FB should let him know.
On a serious note, I am sure he knows or the support staff observed this. May be he protects Imrul for all we know. Between the two I'd think Tamim is braver but it's the team goal that should matter and to protect the lonely Lion (Tamim) of our team we must sacrifice the lamb.

unless we expect a cameo from Imrul like against India I don't think we need a change.
Tamim is the sort of player who throws the chllnge to the opposition right from the first over.
he just needs to sort out his techniq agnst incoming deliveries.

I don't think it's a change....jus a little adjustment.....no body is asking Tamim to coming down the order or anything. For sure correcting the technique would be the ultimate goal but regardless even the best player, especially when it's a rarity such as our team, should be somewhat protected.

In the top order you need players who plays big innings. I can forgive Mushy for not getting good starts, but cannot forgive Junaid for letting the hard works ruined in every match.

Missing straight balls from medium pacers will always get you out, whether you bat 1 or 11. He needs to focus on showing the full face of the bat early on in his innings.

I do not want to see a conservative Tamim. He should not be afraid of facing the first over.
In order to win regularly against big teams, we need another quick scoring opener. Kayes is good enough for scores less than 250; but to chase more than that either he should score quickly (which he is capable of; but does not do) or we need a new opener.

that's ridiculous. imrul has been very consistent with the bat this WC plus, we is ordered to keep his wicket and play a long inngs b/c he opens with tamim who likes to play the shots. BUT if we are chasing a big score and we need a quick inning from him, I have no doubt he can deliver that. We have seen how quick he can score runs against India when Tamim was failing.

In a slow low pitch delivery you need to play on FRONTFOOT, not backfoot. On both matches Tamim did not use front foot and paid the price.

Tamim got out in similar fashion twice in a row. He needs to work it out. He is a key batsman, and the coaches should help him out on this.

I might get chewed out for this but what about bringing Tamim down later in the order? He can be the later order power hitter we need during batting powerplays.
Tamim is capable of playing strokes from the first ball onwards so being an opener is not crucial for him. Plus we seem to have the mentality that once Tamim is out, its all over so maybe having him available later will change the dynamics of the team approach.
This is not an experiment for the World cup but next time we have matches where we can afford some experimentation, I think its worth a shot.
We can try to see if someone like Alok or Shabbir (or even Mithun as opener/WK) can take his role in the opening. I think SN is a good fit at #4 so no need to put him to face the new ball as its swinging.

If he want to be "THE MAN", he need to face the heat by leading not hiding behind Imrul.
If he want to study first before facing the ball, he need to consider comming at #3, then and let SN lead the innings. He will have plennty of time studing the bowlers.
But I don;t think he wants that, am I support him completely. Let him face the heat, beacuse, some people are born to be leader. Tamim is one of them.
