BCB optimistic about World Twenty20 preparation

Mohammad Isam
April 6, 2013

The 2014 World Twenty20 Cup will begin on March 16, but the organisers are confident that the prevailing political tension in Bangladesh will not hamper its preparations. The final has been slated for April 6 next year, and a press conference was held in Dhaka on Saturday to mark the one-year run-up to the tournament.

But the press conference was held during a general strike while the logo-launching ceremony to be held in the evening will begin at the end of the strike.

"The political situation during an election year in Bangladesh is usually unstable so I hope the situation will change during the World Twenty20s," ICC vice-president AHM Mustafa Kamal said. "Government and opposition leaders had come to watch the Asia Cup last year, so we believe that the political parties will not create any obstacles."

I can honestly see the tournament getting shifted to, probably India, because of the political turmoil.

Hope I am wrong and everything is fine by then.

we can always host matches on the footpaths of Dhanmondi, the KFC's carpark on Baily Rd or in the swamps of the Sundarbans.

Javed - there are at least two things wrong with your post.

One - you started a new thread when one already exists on the topic. I have merged them.

Two - You took a minor point in the article and made it the thread headline. Interestingly - you also replaced bureaucracy with politics. Quite the sleight of hand, hein? Was it on purpose?

This tournament will be the best ever because of the absence of opening ceremony.

Now only if they could get rid of the annoying commentators as well, always saying names of companies and brands as part of the networking deal.Just use the tv coverage as much as possible, loads of pop ups on replays, loads of pop ups on scorecards, loads of pop ups when the bowler is running in. Make it up this way.

Dont worry about the annoying commentator as this will be covered by ESPN Star and they have their own commentary team. We will not have to put up with both Atahar and Shamim but we may have to put up with one.

Loads of pop ups during games!?!? You crazy!? I'd rather listen to Sarafat and Shamim all day long.
