Because he cares and cared. He turned the batting around - which Law is disintegrating into shambolic performances by every one who flourished in JS' time. When all players fail to fire - there is a problem with coaching. Under Law, just watch what happens to Nasir and Nazim.

1. No more nice talks from the BD players, just show better performance with respect for the fans.
2. I hope Nazimuddin, my man, will bang 6 SIX's on Ajmol in one innings to make me happy (And to eat Ajmol alive ). I am not caring about the result as we know it. Just some flashes of hope are better than nothing.
3. Other batsmen will come forward to support Nazimuddin, like of Tamim, Shakib and the Khushi Khushi.
4. Focus more on singles than 4's.

I am really afraid now if this is the case.

That is not my hope, by far, I want the new comers to excel as they have. It is rather my apprehension that Law has a knack for stifling individuality, talent, creativity of the well established batmen. I fear Law has been mucking up with the natural game of the batsmen. These people flourished under JS. I remember Mushfiq and Mahmudullah putting up a good fight in NZ. I remember Tamim taking on England in England and India in BD in tests. Now look, all of them failing together? What else is common to them all? Law is it! He just does not care, no passion, and from what I saw on TV - he appears to be sarcastic (remember when he made fun of Shahadat fielding in one of the WI tests?). That does not befit a coach. Talk straight and nurture them. Don't alienate and treat them with sarcasm.

Yes, I can remember that. I thought he could have been disciplined by BCB. His such sarcasm really hurt the team. This is not a good coach's job.

Why is Imrul even on the Test squad? The selectors were failed cricketers themselves, can't expect anything exceptional from these blokes.

I hope Pakistan plays one of the new pacers in 2nd test, if not they would have wasted a perfectly good opportunity.

Selectors should have tested a specialist keeper in the squad this time. Perfect option was to get in Dhiman, who is also at the pick of his batting form but I am not concerned about his batting though.

Nazimuddin played well because he was hungry, at the age of 26, to cement his place in the team. We need mature players like him although I doubt how long he can maintain this tempo as he has grown up smashing boundaries and it was evident right after his 50 runs in 2nd innings. On the other hand Ash knows that he is going to come back in every other series BD plays.

Distressing Musfiq from so many responsibilities and making him a test batsman should be a plan. Someone mentioned Mehrab in the middle order, which is not also a bad option if Musfiq comes in number 4 and having a keeper batsman at the lower order. I can't understand what good Kayas can do in place of Nafees. We are just replacing a rotten apple with another.

as per cricinfo article today, Ash still does not now if he is in or out. That sucks. Management is not managing. How can the team prepare like that?
There is some confusion surrounding Bangladesh's squad for the second Test against Pakistan, which begins on Saturday, over the status of Mohammad Ashraful. The coach Stuart Law has said Ashraful was part of the squad - and he was seen training with his team-mates - but the selection panel's list, which is yet to be approved by the BCB president as is mandatory, does not contain his name.

The confusion arose after the selection panel were reported to have picked a squad for the second Test excluding Ashraful and the injured Rubel Hossain, and giving Shafiul Islam a recall. The list is expected to be approved by BCB president Mustafa Kamal, who is due back in the country late on Thursday night. Ashraful, however, checked into the team hotel yesterday along with the other members of the squad and went through the pre-match procedures this morning and it seemed the team management were working on the assumption that he would be picked.

"As far as I know, he [Ashraful] is in the squad. That's why he's here in practice. We haven't been told anything different," Law said. "Maybe it is speculation and that sort of thing goes on in this part of the world.

"All I have done is prepared like a Test match. I have told everyone to be prepared for all outcomes come match day. That's the same in any team. We have turned up here today as a squad from the first Test. We have all practiced like we are playing a Test match. So that's not an issue."

Akram Khan, the chief selector, told reporters that the panel had finalised the team and handed it over to the BCB. "We submitted the team to the board today because we have only two days in hand for practice before the second Test match."

Ashraful had made a comeback to the squad for the first Test against Pakistan, after being dropped for Tests against West Indies and the ODIs against Pakistan. He managed only 1 and 0 in Chittagong.

With mordern day technology with smart phones and ipads, why Loitta have to be physically in Bangladesh to approve the team? Can't they send the list using email and get approval or feedback from him via email?

Sir-ke physically office-e asste hobe ebong pion ke physically file ta tar samne dhorte hobe ...selector-ra physcally ashbe todbir korte aar pakha deye batash korbe ...Sir cha te chumuk debe er por bolbe.... "Hmmmm permission monjur"... only then team slection final hobe.

According to The Daily Star:

Much ado about team selection
Sports Reporter
The Bangladesh squad for the second Test against Pakistan due to start tomorrow was yet to be named till late yesterday, with much drama surrounding Mohammad Ashraful's place and there also being the possibility of a standoff between the Akram Khan-led selection panel and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) high-ups.

Ashraful was not in a 14-man squad that the selectors submitted to the board on Wednesday. The injured Rubel Hossain was also not in the squad, with Shafiul Islam earning a recall. Curiously, however, Ashraful had checked into the team hotel on Wednesday along with the other members of the squad and trained properly yesterday morning.

Adding to the confusion was coach Stuart Law's belief that Ashraful was in the squad.

“As far as I know, he [Ashraful] is in the squad. That's why he's here in practice. We haven't been told anything different. Maybe it is speculation and that sort of thing goes on in this part of the world,” said Law while talking to reporters after training on Thursday.

On the other hand, Ashraful said at the Dhaka Premier Division League players' transfer at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday that he was informed of his exclusion in the evening.

A rumoured standoff between the selection committee and BCB bigwigs may be the reason behind this reluctance to name the squad with less than a day and a half to go before the start of the Test. It was learnt that certain influential officials want the squad to be a 15-member one with uncapped batsman Mominul Haque included. If true, this is further proof to support the long-held belief that board members often interfere in selection matters.

For their part, the selectors seem suddenly to have taken exception to this interference, with the result being that the panel will not name a 15-man squad with Mominul included, while the BCB will not announce a 14-man squad without him.

With Bangladesh already on the wrong side of a royal drubbing at the hands of Pakistan, this situation is far from ideal. It is only natural that this uncertainty will have a destabilising effect in the team.

“[It is] Unsettling for the boys, not knowing if the team has been declared,” Law said, but added that the team are managing well despite the trouble. “We have turned up here today as a squad from the first Test. We've all practised like we are playing a Test match. So that's not an issue.”

Law is expected to see the positive side, but to use his own words, that Bangladesh are practising 'as a squad from the first Test' is a tacit admission that things are far from what they should be so close to an international assignment. Practising with players who might not even be in the squad, as seems to be the case with Mohammad Ashraful, can only be a hindrance to planning. Perhaps it is high time the board realises that Pakistan really do not need any help.

BIG HUG To benami beckhato official for insisting adding Mominul. Yes its not a good presendence in general term. But when your selectors are stuck into same cycle of bringing back old rejects and not look for new options, what else can you do with these incompetent selectors? May be sack them? But atleast the selectors should be happy that they still have their job.
