I don't know why so many people are mentioning that he should have been batting lower down at 6/7/8. Does that excuse the "shot" he played"? Would you be happy if he played that same exact "shot" if he came to bat at 8? It was utter garbage no matter if the batsman was opening the innings or coming to bat at 11.
I think Riyad should be looking over his shoulder and treading carefully as his batting is slowly going downhill and his bowling isn't good enough to be considered a genuine all rounder, there are many people vying for a place in this team and he may be pushed out if he can't find his place.

Always useless when it matters. Even A 30/50 would have changed the face of the match...But, he had to play T20 to throw his wicket, after playing test matches in all T20i..

Mahmudullah is probably kicking himself. Wasted a good opportunity.

not only Ryad but also NAsir should bat low.
although nothing justifies his dismissal today, but batting with tail enders is his speciality.
He is much more focused when he knows he is the last batsman standing.
Hope he bats low in 2nd inn or even if he doesn't he better make it up in the 2nd inn.

Ash and Mushy's display will make riyad feel ashamed for this shot, lets hope he'll make a good second innings display, provided he gets the chance.

Ya, he is more Focussed when the match is out of hand and he is the last batsman...

I have no problem with him coming down the track, but he should have went inside out. It's common sense that you hit the spinners with the turn. He gave himself very little chance of pulling ehs hot off by targeting the log off boundary.

Horrendous shot under the circumstances. I was shocked when I saw Riyad commit such an error in judgement. You come in for just 4 balls and then charge at a bowler of Herath's caliber? Hope this is just a 1 time thing.

I think people are too harsh on him though saying that "his spot should be in jeopardy" or "he doesn't come through in the clutch." Did we all forget his contributions for the West Indies series? He scored 2 fifties under pressure in Tests and played the short ball the best when others struggled. And then in the ODI series, had he not came through we'd lose the series. Let's not go too far here.

He will come good in the second innings. He is too good a player to miss out twice on this paradise.

Except this won't be a paradise on the 5th day. Herath was already extracting quite a bit of turn yesterday, imagine how this surface will play out on the last day.

God Riyad, I know its just an innings, but what the **** was that? Holly Costner.
Is it a ploy to hide yourself at lower order or something? He's one guy I think has the goods besides Mushy. So disappointing.

He's going to feel like a right idiot knowing the next partnership is 261 time. Gifted his wicket away. Has to learn from his mistake.

was supposed to step up because he's now a senior player of the side and shakib is out injured and that's what he does. he's going to have to watch out because the middle order players are performing and continue to do so and with the batting getting stronger each year sooner or later they'll want to play another bowler instead of batting all the way down to #8 and then he won't have a spot in the team. shakib will keep performing, mushy will keep performing, nasir will keep performing, naeem and mominul have done pretty well with their recent chances as has ash so riyad is going to have to bat better than one of them up the order to maintain a spot.

When people look at this scorecard to look at how well Ash/Mushy played in this innings 10 years into the future they will see a big fat 0 next to Riyad's name. I feel sorry for him
