BD has alot of Kala taka floating around for sure. Society has become materialistic and a very show off culture. Also very drug and boozey environment among certain rich circles.

In BD the chauffers/drivers have the benefits of driving expensive cars while many of their bosses dont have a drivers license or dont know how to drive. Needless to say its a statement for the rich to travel in fast cars at slow paces. Was surprised Hummers also made it to BD.

I did too. Who were these guys kidding.

Back in the day, people would buy MP passes which excluded them from paying high import taxes on cars. These MPs are the ones from places which are remote to large cities.

The biggest problem in BD is over population. There is actually great opportunity for BD to get to whole new level economically if BD political sector wasn't as corrupt.
The gap between BD's top 1% and BD's bottom 5% is much wider than the gap between developped countries' top 1% and bottom 1% .

In the west there is a huge gap between top 0,10 % and the rest of population.

Economically Bangladesh is much more unequal than average western country.

I haven't been to bd for ages. The new kids that are coming to Canada looks like total fobs. Also the hijab wearing has skyrocketed among these people. Am I missing something here? Are these people not coming from Dhaka?

They probably come from village (vast majority of them). Young generation at Dhaka are very liberal (most of them), pre-marital sex is pervasive, vast majority of marriage are love marriage...

Losing your own culture and your own way is not a sign of progress. It's a symptom of being lost.

Premarital sex and non consented sex is far more pervasive in village.

Exerting your rights, becoming strong, maintaining your culture, becoming well educated and staying classy is expensive. The girls that you see at 2 am in Gulshan restaurant don't live there. They are from sorrounding areas, kids of poorer background, lost and want a taste of the high life. They are being taken advantage of by the rich kids young boy or some cases the rich middle aged man themselves.

Rich girls go to bed at 9 pm, safe and protected in their own house after they finish their nofol prayer.

Bangladeshi polapines have adopted very much Indian culture. A lot of them even have adopted an Indian accent watching the blasted Indian shows. Dula Vai has become Jeeju.

Bangladeshi for certain sectors live an American lifestyle when it comes to relationships and even drugs. Alcohol consumption is common at upper class parties with some having their children serve to guests.

It is sad as I think 20 years ago we had a strong tradition and good principles and morals.

anytime you see 1 girl with 3 guys and they are not classmates or cousins - that girl isn't rich. The amount of exposure rich girl got growing up , you think she is gonna hang around with bunch of douchebags in a burger joint smoking pot?? Guys chase them, rich girls don't chase underwhelming boys.

But who is gonna get impressed by a nice juicy fat burger and a BMW car whose taxes haven't been paid? Yes that's right - my kajer bua. think yo think.

It's not a question of progress, it's inevitable. Social media and internet are profundly changing Bangladesh's culture.

It has also created a huge gap between older generation and new generation. For instance, parents don't have television at home because they are conversative, while their kids only watch american movies and serials on netflix...

Ppl always write like this and it's annoying to me. American lifestyle is not just having sex and doing drugs. You can be a good muslim and live an american life. Some of the best Muslims I know are American (not necessarily white, can have bangladeshi/pakistani bakcground parents - but they are still true americans)

No culture endorses their kids going around doing drugs and not becoming something for themselves.

Stop being judgemental.

Now that I think about it, is it really that controversial Shakib said we didn't come here to win the WC, India is here to win?

He was saying it as it is. We simply do not have the players to win a tri-series let alone the world cup. That's just facts.

Best news that Liton Das was kicked out of the team only to see that Anamul Haque picked back from the trash can.

Tanzin Shakib is a hack IMO. He was exposed in the last game, absolutely no control over the ball. He gets wickets because of batsman's mistakes.

I still dislike Taskin but he is much better these days

Time for Manadullah to call it a day. Cant field well either. I think Mushfiqur is enough to provide the seniority support.

Need new guns. Also need to lock Anamul Haque out of the team. Was worried that Hassan Mahmud might sneak into the team as well,

Bangladesh players really lack game sense.

Batsman play such idiotic shots at the wrong time to simple deliveries. Bowlers cant even bowl line and length which should be a standard at international level. Pacers love bowling short balls that are hit me balls or bowl short and wide regularly.
