Default How tall is Rahim?

Some jokes around in British media on Rahim's height. How tall is he really? I think his profile says - he is 5'-4".

What is the joke all about? He's very tall if you consider his age (only 16).

Rajin is very short. Rahim looks taller than Rajin. Anyway his age of 16 is not true. In Bangladesh they always hide their real age and his age of 16 is certificate age. The funny thing is the first time any Bangladeshi will encounter the issue of date of birth is the time of registration for SSC exams. Obviously if someone is making a new passport and going overseas before the 9th grade then it's fine because then they wouldn't do SSC. But Rahim certainly had to stay in BD so if he is 5 ft 2 then he will not grow more than 5 ft 4.

Anyway i don't know why they made these jokes about him. Tendulkar is short and he is the modern master and Akmal looks like a very good batsman as well and his 124 against WI in Australian pitches speaks volumes. So Rahim can be a very good batsman as well. His height should not hinder his progress.

Akram Khan was tall.

As he is a batsman, who cares? How tall is tendu any way?

The way he is handling himslef with the so called big boyz, to me he is much taller than most of the Bangladeshi Batsman.

In the 1st Inning, he played the most balls (71 balls) and scored the 3rd highest score for Bangladesh.

In the 2nd Innings, he is still there, the lone ranger fighting all by himself (5-2" 16 old kid) trying to partially restore national pride.

So to me he is already 6' 2" tall .

I said he is trying to partially restore national pride.

How can we have any, if we cannot appreciate a 16 years old kid who is trying his best (all by himslef) to do that.

Yes, he is still there, when 7 wickets gone cheaply. He has scored so far the 2nd highest run 27.

Rahim is a little shorter than Rajin. In the pic that Sami just provided, Rahim was jumping up and down and you can see that his feet aren't properly planted on the ground. I would say he is about 5'2 or 5'3, and contrary to Fwullah, I don't think that is very tall for a 16 year old. I am about 5'11 and I did all my growing by the time I was 16. I don't think he will grow more than an inch or two at best.

For a wicketkeeper and batsman, height is not a factor, I believe. It's indecent to make fun of somebody's height. British media sometimes appear to be an uncivilized one.

I wonder if anyone remembers David Williams who kept wicket for the Windies for a little while. He was so short even the West Indian players used to make fun of him in the field. He came up to about Ambrose's stomach!

Ditto.

Lack of height helps wicketkeepers in many ways too.

* Much much less back problems and therefore less injures.

* Quicker to the ball specially laterally.

Would we play this guy as a batsman?

we thought pilot's spot was secured in the team for as long as he wanted to play. he better watch out. he might be out of this team in a couple of years if mushfiq keeps getting better.
