Anderson already out of the 1st test.

After that tour, I think Bangladesh will be in India to play that Scintilla of a solitary test match.

Records will be broken in one way or the other.
Injuries will mount.
At least one English player will return home.

And the rest is to be determined....

Keep you posted

England need to sort out their top order batting immediately, otherwise it will be straight 5-0 .

If injury free series, Eng may win one ODI and a T20 that is about it.

This English squad is very young and Finn will be carted if he plays.

Ashwin has taken a rest during the NZ odi's. I think he has watched the bd vs eng games, specially the bowling of mehedi.

If not, he already has the video of how mehedi troubled the English also how Taijul and shakib supported him.

I think ashwin now knows how to doom the English batting and England has a hectic job playing out ashwin.

Who is India second spinner in tests...... Mishra or chawla?? Or axar patel? Or anybody else? Surely jadeja is there as the third one?

Well just saw the score cards of India Nz tests and India now actually play..... 6 batsman, specialist wk wriddhiman Saha, jadeja as 4th bowler, ashwin as main spinner ans two seamers yadav and shami

The bowling quadret and wicket keeper has been consistent.... The batters were rotated for some injuries.

They have a very settled side in tests.

Lokesh Rahul will make a return...and they might rotate Shikar and Gautam as the opening batsmen.

This will be the series that ends Dharmasena's career, he's umpiring for the first two tests on what would be turners that would put ours to shame

BCCI isn't going to put up with his incompetent shenanigans

I will Mostly be rooting for England .

England missed a trick by not including Haseeb Hameed. Gary Ballance is horribly out of form... My XI for England next test against India:

1) Alistair Cook(c)
2) Ben Duckett
3) Joe Root
4) Haseeb Hameed
5) Ben Stokes
6) Jos Buttler
7) Johnny Bairstow(wk)
8) Moeen Ali
9) Chris Woakes
10) Stuart Broad
11) Adil Rashid

If they want to use an extra spinner, then draft in Gareth Batty for Jos Buttler and shift the order up by 1 from the previous lineup and drop Batty to #11.

Dharmasena is quite consistent as an umpire though. When he gives it out it turns out to be not out and when he says not out it is most definitely out. As this rate DRS might just become known as Dharmasena Review System

Gareth Batty will have to play every match.

Rashid is not that skilled as a leggie to be effective in India...that's why they are taking Saqlain with them, to help with the offie, who is Batty.

JUST my theory

The spinners England have showcased in our series gives an indication at how dire England will fare in India. At least back in 2012 they had Monty and Swann to match Ashwin and co, now they don't have anyone near their calibre.

The only thing that is going for them is how India made Moeenalitharan during their tour to England last year, so that will be playing on their minds. Batting wise Cook at least has Root whereas last time he had KP, but the juries still out on how Root will fare

I wouldn't write off this England side just yet. These guys are a different breed to the England sides of the past. The way Ducket played shows that they are thinking players and know how to improve and adapt. Because of us, and the pressure we put them under, India will face a stronger English batting unit... i think. I am also really impressed with Stokes. What a great find he is for england. A genuine fighter. They need to drop Balance and pick somebody better in the middle order.

nope, Morgan last played Test in 2012. Alex Hales record against Pakistan last summer is ok not great(He ma be given another chance) but since he did not tour Bangladesh, Indian conditions may be very foreign to him.

I was surprised that England didn't went with Hameed in the 2nd Test against bangladesh.

He would have been exposed to the track and conditions of the subcontinent. He made a fifty in the practice match...now he might make his debut in the 1st test aginst India..while Ballance do the 12th-man duties

England's Test SQUAD:

Alastair Cook (c), Moeen Ali, Zafar Ansari, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jake Ball, Gary Ballance, Gareth Batty, Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler (wk), Ben Duckett, Steven Finn, Haseeb Hameed, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes.

Quote:
"I think the problem that Alastair will have is getting the ball out of his hands. He wants to bowl, he wants to compete - speak to Paul Collingwood, he bowls marathon spells for Durham, 16-17 overs - and he's got that ability to produce magic with the old ball.

England must protect Stokes from burn-out, says Michael Vaughan
"And even when he's bowled badly, and sprayed the ball all over the place, he's always created opportunities. Beefy Botham took a lot of wickets with long-hops and Ben Stokes is very similar, because he's got that physical presence out in the middle. He does intimidate opposition batsmen, so he will create opportunities."

Monty and Swann both of them were far better than the best they have today. I don't really think Moeen is that class, but we'll see that.

Moeen is a good ultility/necessity player. He is no world class spinner as well as no clown with the ball in hand...He gets the job done. That's what is important from the English's standpoint.

They will have to play the SLA Ansari in at least 3 of the 5 tests...Perhaps a good battle against India's right hand batsmen./.
