Steamed with hot gas, its much harder to get burnt with gas, because the molecules dissipate so fast.

Anyways "correct" answer was get burnt with boiling water. Apparently hot gas steam's particles are moving too fast and thus they burn you more. I hope shaad will fill in a more technical detailed answer/explanation.

Common sense: water becomes vapor at 100c (assuming std. pressure). As such, boiling water will always have less temperature than steam.

So, burn in boiling water.
