Even though holding on to those dropped catches would have made things interesting, that was a below par total we were defending. We need to be 300+ to put pressure on NZ and to do that we need to capitalize on the 1st 15 overs. All batsman seem know how to accelerate and make up for the dot balls early in the innings except Tamim. It is difficult to watch him hit boundaries and then play 4 dots all throughout the innings. When NZ introduced spin i knew Soumya would not last 5 overs. We need an alternative now and Liton also seriously needs to start contributing.

Write to Papon, since at this point he seems to be the only one to call out bs.

Tamim had the gall to say Mushfiq played well

I think the approach was fine, if they could take regulation catches they would have won the match.

As for the batting

Overs 35-40 Mushfiqur played 2 overs of forward defense.

Tamim when he was on his nervous 40s took an eternity to get to 50.

Those little things would have made the score 290+

Going back to January 2018, there have been 29 ODI matches played in NZ. Bangladesh's 271 is the 8th highest team score by an opposition in this period. (source)

Their batting was good. If they didn't play the new ball conservatively, they likely would've been all out for another sub-200 score. A bowling attack of Boult, Jamieson, Henry, and Santner in those conditions is difficult to play.

The dropped catches were huge, and the bowlers seemed to lose their nerves during the tail end of that chase.

That's like saying: "Thank God I never picked up roller blades in life... or else I'd would have badly bruised my knees."

You would never know if you don't take chances. Who is to say if they took attacking strategy we may not have scored 400? #perspective

Even the commentator was saying: "There are two ways to approach this. Either play defensively... see off the new ball (don't remember the exact quote) or go all in." Mithun took calculated chances and it paid off.

Yeah good luck with that strategy when playing the next World Cup. We all saw how we fared in England. If after 20 odd years of playing, we still can't get rid of Javed Omar Belim Golla mindset, then I have nothing to say. Nowadays playing as if treading on eggshells ain't gon give you 300+. And measly scores like 240-271 are not enough on world stage.

In general, I agree with the female commentaor. Key is to continue to momentum and keep runs flowing.

So to add to that whether it be RBW or boundaries... continuing to momentum is key. But we all come from a Shamim-culture where we think somehow hitting boundaries is a "sin" as the players must be "lazy". SMFGDH

I just don't think we are good enough to play aggressive across the batting lineup and consistently score 300+. Most Intl teams aren't. If we played the way you are suggesting, we would have a lot more 40 over all out performances for <220 runs. It isn't easy to go out there and hit world class bowlers for boundaries AND not get out.

But I do agree that we should always be batting with intensity and controlled aggression. Don't go into a comfort zone, and wait for the bad balls. Try to manufacture bad balls by moving around the crease when possible.

There is a fine line between batting with momentum and out-and-out aggression. We need to play at the limit of our abilities, but not beyond it.

Check out AUS v Ind. Look at how they approach the game vs our boys. Day and night difference. If you want to be a top class team, gotta go after it like a top class team

Another problem is our batsmen always seems to get out during crucial times. So, even if they start slow, they lose wickets just about when they should be looking to accelerate.

Bowling is another problem. At 53-3, you would expect most other teams to make things very difficult for NZ from that position.

We need a good positive captain. 318 to chase and as a team you simply cannot let the required run rate climb to 8 runs per over in the 1st 15 overs. The batsman have to show intent even if it means wickets will be lost because otherwise there is no game left to play for the middle and lower order. The thinking has to be clear.

The ball will swing in NZ and that should not be a shock to our guys. The top order will have to find a way to score and score quickly. If that is not possible then at least find a way to rotate the strike. We cannot have batsman that play one decent innings every 5 games. Soumya, Liton, Mithun are not doing the job they should be doing after this many opportunities.

Saifuddin was wasted in this series. He should have had the new ball. His hitting capabilities was also not utilized. Could have used him as a pinch hitter.

Mithun and Mushfiq were just rotten, I don't know what the **** they were thinking. I am almost convinced there was some sort of politics or some bs going on. Run rate was climbing and Rahim/Mithun just stood there practicing their front foot blocks. What an absolute shameless bunch.

Less said about Rahim's gaffe with the gloves the better.

You can't have all openers playing at the same time. It should be either Liton or Soumya.

Lack of Shakib is indeed noticeable. And, why is Metoon still there? - to play Eidi innings?

Am I the only one staying up and watching the 1st T20?

Bowling is garbage. Fielding is also garbage - so many misfields and so many dropped catches by the famous Mammu and now Soumya too.

Board is garbage and so are the selectors. Why would you take newbies to a tough series like NZ? Nurture them in Afg or Zim or home series first. In fact, in today's match , there are 5 newbies - that is half of the team. What's with so many spinners in the team in NZ? Rubel bowled well yesterday and any reasonnwhy couldn't be taken in the T20? NZ and such bouncy pitches are places where you have to bowl like a beyaddob and not bowl by the book to get wickets.

51 t20 games for Soumya and absolutely nothing to show for it. As soon as any kind of spin is introduced, you just know he will get out within 2 overs

Absolutely garbage batting. Batting and fielding coaches need to be sacked. Soumya and Mithun should all be left out of the team. We have waited long enough for these guys to be consistent. Liton also needs to be put on notice. These pretty 20s aren't gonna cut it after 5 years of opportunities

I was awake till the 10th over of BD batting. When the bharatiyo immigrant took all those wickets, it reminded me of the batting collapses of the past. I thought pace would be the problem, not spin.

3rd drop this game

We won't get anywhere with this fielding, this tour could have been very different with better fielding

Day by day am loosing interest in cricket thanks to this looser team. These juniors has been playing for so long now, how long do they need? even Tamim/Mushfiq/Shakib wasn't this bad or take this long when they started. Heck, the team heavily depended on them to win matches either way.
