Shakib picks up two nominations at ICC annual award
Shakib has been nominated for the ICC cricketer of the year and Test player of the year award.
This is the time for graduation for the boy. He was nominated before for the ICC emerging player of the year award
ICC award night will be held on 1 October 2009. He may not win any award, but this is a great achievemnt for the young Tiger.
He is the probably the youngest cricketer to be nominated for the ICC cricketer of the year award.
Full nominations

this great news. Thanks.
and yes this does deserve a new thread, otherwise I wouldn't have read it. I hate those threads on "everything about......" so many important/interesting stories get "lost" in mostly uninterested ones.

Good news just keeps on coming for Sakib.

Its a tough crowd though.

That's a good news indeed. Hope he wins at least one. But these categories are tough to win for even a subcontinental cricketer. Best performers in Ashes generally is a hot favourite for the best test cricketer.
If cricketer of the year is going to be awarded on statistics, shakib has a chance.
NB: Editor can use editorial quotas, While a common member would have still posted it in the official everything thread. May be if he won a prize a special congratulation thread could be appropriate as a seperate thread.
But I personally won't mind having everything in 'everything thread'

Last time he nominated for emergence player of the year...now nominated for best player and test player of the year. So within next three year he will be best player...And shakib is one who want to be best and tries everything to get it.
Well done Shakib

We didnt play enough ODIs against good teams.
Only a couple against NZ and SL.
Not enough extraordinary performances from Shak.

OK, now THIS is a very good achievement. Two nominations, that too for cricketer and Test player of the year - not a joke. It doesn't matter if he doesn't win this time, but I think it's pretty clear now that the Test status isn't going anywhere. Well it never was, but this seals it.

this is fantastic news! I doubt Shakib will take the honors but to be along side great names is an achievement in itself n it should make him more hungry to perform against top class teams

This is indeed a great news and I'm really feeling proud of Shakib, but my question is what did Graham Onions and Harbhajan Singh do to get the nomination for the 'Cricketer of the Year' award?
