You don't need to be so polite. Since we all know you're good at it...keep bragging. Just teach some of us how to analyze photographs.

it might be better if you present an example and i can take it from there or perhaps, i could find a famous picture from the past and talk about it? like all arts, any analysis would have a subjective element to it. saying that, the philosophy of photography is an almost mature discipline now so there are some accepted norms.

I like taking pictures, but I wouldn't say I am a hobbyist in pure form. Here are few of the random pics from a village; I took these during my BD trip last month.

The one with the girl was random as well; she wasn't standing there to be photographed. I am not sure exactly what she was doing with the branch, but I know for a fact that she wasn't aware I took her picture.

wow, those are really nice pics by all of you. I love photography, I'm not that good at it but hopefully i'll get there someday I like taking pitures of nature as I find it very facinating. Puck Bhaiya and Akib Bhaiya maybe you guys can teach me some techniques. I really need a proper camera last time i checked , which was 3 days ago, a Nixon DSLR costs over one thousand dollars and I know my Parents won't buy it for me. So, I'm stuck with my Olympus M740 digital camera.... I guess thats better than nothing :S.
Anywayz I shall post some of the pics I took when i can actually be bothered to resize & upload them :P

Here are a few of mine. The first three pictures are taken by an SLR and developed using cool chemicals in my photography class..but they kind of turned out a lil' weird when I scanned them onto the computer.
( Melbourne city)

( Melbourne city-federation square building)

These ones were taken using my normal digital camera

a good camera does not make a better picture although a better photographer would find it easier to take good pictures with a better camera.

antora, it is promising to see that you are shooting the sky, after all, photography is all about capturing light and sky emanates all natural light. when looking at the sky think about the contrast, as in the difference between the darker and the lighter parts of the colours. your camera is picking up a lot of digital noise as well as lacking in contrast. in the second picture of the sky the framing needs to be thought about. its always best to have not too much going on in skyscape. that allows for more attention on the main part of the sky.

Puck,

How do I take photos of girls in the street without them getting aware of it?

i believe this is a tongue and cheek question from the famed wit gopal! your question had perplexed photographers for almost 80 years although the problem is not just specific to girls, but any street photography scene. if you are serious about it and the motive for such photography is not titilation, there are specific techniques. cartier-bresson was the most famous of photo-journalists who captured the streets with sublime beauty. some of the basic techniques are still the same although technology helps!

you need a wide angle lens, anything that is 28mm to 40mm in old fashioned 35mm camera terms. the likes of panasonic lx series, ricoh gr or gx series, canon g series and the leica digilux would be the high end compacts endowed with wide angle lenses. serious street photography does not require anything more than 50mm lenses. the next part is learning how to hyper-focus. this is somewhere between infinity and perhaps turning the focusing ring two stops before it reaches infinity. you are better off shooting in manual mode or aperture priority with the aperture set at somewhere at around f/8. if your camera allows for it, set the light meter to centre weighed average mode. then shoot away. it helps to have a very quiet shutter, something a modern dslr does not possess. for street shooting i love smaller cameras. the other trick is to shoot from the hip with the above setting. take twenty shots and go through them all to get a good idea of where you need to be to get that shot in perfect focus. then move accordingly and shoot.

lastly, be respectful of other folk's rights!

I agree with this. Antora your pictures are really promising, but try adding some contrast. Personally I often use the horizon or something like that to give my photography some balance.

As for street photography, I'm really interested in that, except I suck at it. My camera can take silent pics and pretty quickly, but they often come out really blurry.

Also one really good tip, take TONS of pictures, and later sort through them for the good ones. Like for every good picture I have, I have lots of really badly done, or just unbalanced pics.
