Sheikh Rusell football team

I was stunned to see a football team by then name of Sheikh Russell (not sure if they have spelled it right), who was Sheikh Mujib's youngest son killed in 1975. This sets a new precendence, or low, in how we commemorate famous dead people. I remember playing with Russell the year before he died, I don't know how he would take a football club named after him...

Does anyone know the details about this club?

What's next, Zia United and Bangabandhu City?

I think their has been sheikh Russel (sp) club for a while. However, no history as to its origin.

Just to let you know, they always have had clubs using even little known (maybe a muktijoddha or village matobbor or some late friend or coach) folks.

Didn't know that Abahani went by Abahoni now a days.

Anyway, I regularly kept goal for the Sheikh Moni Sriti club after befriending his son.

Now big deal with a Russel club, thus, I would guess !

I am thinking about going back home (well, I don't have to - not for this) and open a sheikh tehsin Club (no smriti yet - still kicking) just for the heck of it.

Geez... Russel's only claim to fame is that he got murdered... many people get murdered and don't get football teams named after them. Oh and my mum just told me his brother also had a team named after him.
