Welcome to the official Banglacricket.com NBA 2008-2009 Season Thread! This year is going to be a fun one with up and coming teams looking to make their mark. We got the Hornets and the Hawks who are two young teams coming off a playoff berth. We got the champs, Celtics, and the challenger, Lakers. We got Kobe, Lebron, D-Wade, CP3, and Joe Johnson baby! This is gonna be a fun year.

Already 3 games have been played with the Celtics defeating the Cavs 90-85, the Bulls beating the Bucks 108-95, and the Lakers beating the Blazers 96-76.

Standings will be up by tomorrow!

I have never been a fan of NBA or basketball. This year, I think I will follow more of NBA. But, its hard to watch when you don't have a team to root for. But, I am open to rooting for some team this year. Which team should I root for?

I find it easy to root for a team where I have a favorite player. The opposite is also true. I dislike Kobe.

In the west, if you want flair, fun, funk, fantastic plays go for Phoenix Suns. They are a contender too. Shaq Fu, Amare, Nash, Diaw, Barbosa, Grant Hill, Raja Bell - they are just loaded and Amare is the new Shaq .

If you like old school, tradition, old stuff go for San Antonio Spurs. Manu, Manu, Manu!! Timmy, Tony Mr. Longoria (desperate housewives)
If you like trouble Los Angles Lakers is your team. Kobe the selfish, Gasol, Bynum, General Fisher.
Under dog: Houston Rockets. Yao Ming (7' 6"), Tracy McGrady, Trouble maker Artest
Spoilers: Denver Nuggests, Seattle Super Sonics, LA Clippers even.
Losers: the Sacramento Kings is your team. Memphis will do okay too.

East:
Why bother?? Yeah, I know Celtics won last year. Those are all hired goons. they only won 20 something games the year before. Staged final by the Commish.

Support Cleveland LeBron James (King James). He is the real deal one man show. I didn't think I would like to go watch any NBA game after Michael Jordan retired. I stand corrected.

Razzle Dazzle: New Orleans, will push everyone to the limit because of Chris Paul. Pound for pound best point guard in the league. Byron Scott is a very good coach.
Standing on a last leg: Detroit Pistons. will do good in the regular season as usual. Even may become the #1 team in the east. Surely Boston magic will go away this year.
Orlando is the dark horse.
Unpredictable: Chicago. One season they are up and challenging the best, next season they are searching for a lottery pick.
Atlanta, Miami, Washington still missing some pieces.
Or you can go beyond the border and support a good team in Toronto.

The Suns are more Defense Oriented now, with the new Coach but If you can stay up late watch Golden State they're run and gun but Monta Ellis is Injured so tyou may have to wait a bit.

The Knicks are all about Offense and no Defense + All the Drama. A Bunch of 120-115 games coming up this season. The Former Coach and President of the Team Tried to Kill Himself and The New Coach Benched there 2 Overpaid Starters for the Entires ... Crackbury and Mr. Hamburgler ... I mean Marbury and Curry.

Lakers will probably win the Title This Year if Bynum is Healthy ... Oden Out 2-4 Weeks but if Portland can make the playoffs and Oden is Healthy they could be trouble

Hornets are in the West. I truely believe the Hawks are starting to put it all together. Now all we need is a quality big man and we will be championship contenders. Right now our lineup is:

PG-Bibby SG-JJ SF-Marvin PF-Josh Smith C-Al Horford

Al is a very solid Center even though this is only his 2nd year but ideally we would like to move him to his more natural position of PF. To do that we need to get a quality Center. I would love to get a guy like Chris Kaman. Maybe trade Bibby to LAC for Kaman. Our lineup would then look like:

PG-Law SG-JJ SF-Josh Smith PF-Al Horford C-Chris Kaman

Smith, Horford, and Kaman are all potential allstars and Joe Johnson is a superstar. Also Law could be our Rondo.

Support the Hawks man. They are fun to watch and sort of an underdog.

Great input guys. T_E, you are truely the sports junkie, man! I think I am gonna watch a few games first then decide on a team. Off course, a rank underdog will get the preference. I will ask questions from time to time in here, and I am sure I won't be dissapointed, as it seems all of you know what you are talking about. I like the favorite player thing T_E suggested.

Use to be ...

(ak bar cheka khaia...) At college didn't wanted to chase around women. They are nothing but trouble. And also it hurts the pocket book. All I did is was school, work, ESPN, and play sports. Had to get rid of that bottled up energy. All girls were sistas, lol.

Watching Sports slowed down a little bit with MLB scandle, NHL lockouts, Michael, Barry sanders retiring. Mean while you grow up!! Got married, had kid... The passion is still there but the time is not.

+++

Truly, this season everyone is penciling down Lakers to win it all. The irony is even though I don't like it; I know the commish and Las Vegas (betting) will make that happen. That is how NBA is. Sad but true. Money talks.

Keep an eye on Phoenix suns and New Orleans. Two good west team who will definitely challenge Lakers. (Thanks ro for the correction - originally they were in the east now the moved to the west)

Chicago is close to your proximity even though Bears will bring lots of hatred towards that city. This is the season where they will go up.

Major Trade. Billup (finals MVP) and McDyess (instant offense) for AI (ball hog).
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns

Quote:
Denver has traded All-Star guard Allen Iverson to Detroit in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, a league executive with knowledge of the talks said.
Pistons center Cheikh Samb also will go to Denver to make the salaries match in the trade.
Billups helped guide the Pistons to the Eastern Conference finals during each of his previous six seasons in Detroit. He grew up in Denver and played 58 games for the Nuggets over two seasons from 1998-2000.
McDyess has had two previous stints with the Nuggets, and began his career with them in 1995.
Iverson was traded to Denver in December 2006, but was not able to help Carmelo Anthony lift the Nuggets out of the first round of the playoffs in his two seasons there.

The trade gives the Pistons salary-cap flexibility at the end of the season. Iverson’s contract, which pays him $21.9 million this season, expires in July.
Billups is owed $36.3 million over the next three seasons and has an additional $14.2 million team option for 2011-12. McDyess will make $6.8 million each of the next two seasons.
This is a financial decision trade for Detroit. I think this will hurt the team chemestry even though this frees up salary cap to resign Prince and others. Nuggests will only get better with the winners.

Hmmmm that is a pretty interesting trade. Yeah I agree, Denver got the better of the trade. Iverson is getting pretty old and he will mess up the chemistry in Detroit. I am surprised this trade went down so early in the season.

Pistons got mad Cap Space for the 2010 NBA Bidding Spree, and I think there still favorites in the East now, Iverson is that dude, he played with Scrtubs in Philly and Almost won a title vs the 2nd Greatest Team in NBA History & Not his fault Denver played no D.

I'm happy that he got a chance for a Ring now ... Sheed & The Answer dudes with Attitude

I think Joe Dumars is the ultimate manager. I think he will go for the kill next year with LeBrone. Then we would say Celtics who??? This is just my speculation. However, Joe can just go out next year and get quality players (team players) and win one that way. Iverson's personality conflicts with what Joe believes in. This will be a temporary stay for him at Detroit.

McDyess is Coming Back to Detoit too, he'll juyst be unemployed for a 1 month (NBA Rules). If you don't think Iverson isn't hungry for a Title after 13 Years, Just like KG was ... he's gonna give 110% percent (He always did) and When the pistons have there Scoring Droughts or need someone to take the Clutch Shot it's him.

Joe D is the only good GM who was also a Great Player

Jordan, Bird, Isiah, McHale all Terrible GM's

Just in to the season. San Antonio last in their division??? Hmm!! Tony Parker just scored 55 points. Manu where are you? Timmy misses you. Don't worry they will come alive come playoffs time.

New Orleans lost to Hawks at home. Big raised eye brow. JJ on fire.

LA duel and when I checked the score it was a 2 point game favoring Lakers (middle in the 3rd). Final score was a blow out? What happened there?

Utah quietly racking up wins as they usually do. Jerry Sloan is best in business with less talent. Detroit and Miami looking good. Celtics will have a hard time this year going to the East Finals game.

lol, I saw Nick carrying hawks to 50+ games. He was vince 3.0 before Vince went to highschool. Human highlight Dominick Wilkins. He had some duels with Michael. A return to the playoffs will be a big achievement for the Hawks. Continuity!!

Ya he was a great player. Dominique is now a Hawks broadcaster. He really brings great insight to the games.

If it takes 2 OT's to beat the Wolves something is wrong, Manu or No Manu.
1 and Done for SA come playoff time. 3 Really good players and 7 Scrubs there old now.

Atlanta beating New Orleans is a Surprise, Amare was a Monster Yesterday

Knicks are 2-2 but we are horrible, Waiting for Ricky Rubio next year.
