No dancing in Bangladeshi weddings (Mehendi/Gaye Holud Night maybe but they dont normally serve kacchi biryani).

After a great kachi I would go to a nice quiet and hidden spot and enjoy a nice cigarette.

One of my mates came to London, and although I gave up smoking he pushed one into my hand and said : You need to smoke after you have a very good biryani

That sucks; bigtime.

It's a celebration. Wedding's are synonymous with dancing over here.

Different cultures perhaps (not heading into a religious frame of reference).

The dancing happens on Mehendi/Gaye Holud Night which is prior to the wedding itself. It is normally done by the younger generations and these days jumping and pumping to cheesy Bollywood songs and done on a stage choreographed. But in general in Bangladesh, culturally we dont dance at weddings. Heck we dont dance at all.

You are from the West Indies, so you gotta flow wid the riddim

Man's gotta stay lean bro!! There are other fun activities to be had in life too...

I am going to Bangladesh this December, have 2 weddings to attend. Need to just eat breakfast and skip every other meal before dinner for the two days.

So if you have it all worked out why ask for the calorie value?

I am surprised that Dhaka/Bangladesh biryani doesn't get a lot of recognition. If you go to Ind/Pak groceries/restaurants, all you hear and see packets of are sindhi, hyderabadi, Karachi, afghani and other type of biryani/polaus. I have tried almost all and our biryanis (haji, nanna, rajjak), kacchi, tehari are almost as good, if not better. We just suck at promoting our cuisines.
Thank you... It is not just good, but the best!!

We were never good at Marketing our own product.. Weather that be jute, jamdani or hilsha... .. Government needs to promote these items.

Eat less rice, little borhani, and stay away from the jorda/desserts.

Like I said, everyone has their own way of doing the stuff. The gravity of the wedding.

Party starts from a week before for us, and ends two days after the wedding.

Whats the point of going to BD if you dont gain few? I gained 7 pounds after my last visit and I am so proud if that achievement. Had biriyani almost every day. Heaven

Yes, the kacchi was so good. Also loved sultan's dine.

To be honest, got disappointed with Star kabab's kacchi this time. Tried Kacchi and Roast with Borhani. Borhani was little too sweet for me, and kacchi was just ok. Definitely didnt live up to the hype. Salam's kitchen and sultan's dine were much better

same here. went to star last December. but it was decent at best. it was too oily for me.

confession - I love biryani but I think I like tehari even more. I am not sure how to explain the differene between the two. But a plate of tehari in the morning is heavenly.

I need to report adamnsu now. All these talk about biryani is making me super hungry now.

Sorry man, guilty as charged!

Tbh Star's Kebabs and Biryani are not as good as they used to be.

However their morning breakfast (the one I wanted to invite you to) is quite good. Also the atmosphere then is better IMO. I heard a story that the owner of Star has a non beef area in respect of a Hindu family he was apart of his life. (cant validate)

Tehari for me was when I didnt have enough money for Kachi as a student. For 30 taka or so one could feast at Nilkhet.

But for me given the choice among the rich rice foods Kachi it has to be all the time. Followed by tehari and closely by Bunna Khichuri. Pilao of any sorts was never to my liking in Bangladesh.

Hard to tell. Best ask the bride during the wedding: "Apa ei biryani khaile ki apnar moto mota shota hoye jabo naki?"
