FWIW, we are at 93 in ODI and Australia at 100. Supposing we white-wash Zimbabwe we'd still be at same rank ie 7 with 93 points. Even losses wouldn't mean much as SL is behind us at 77.

We all have lofty goals of winning the World Cup, but should we focus on inching up, the resultants usually work themselves out. Barring SL, you don't see Scotland all of a sudden coming and winning the Cup out of nowhere. It is usually the stronger teams be it Mighty Australia - lol, India or West Indies who always projects foreshadows of winning vibes and aura and thus go to take it. My premonition is England will take this year in a vicious shootout with India, but that is just hypothetical.

This is our best time to 'attack' the rankings and have some matches with Aus, SA, SL or Pak - preferably at home. Can't believe we are actually close to 'beating Australia'. LOL

Ah bring back first grade memories with star chart and all...

The rankings are now almost totally irrelevant. SL are too far behind to catch up soon (in all likelihood) and we are too far behind to move up to 6th.

We are already qualified for the WC and CT last year so again nothing there.

With the new ODI league, this rankings table will become totally irrelevant. Its important for us to make sure we are in the top 8 once the league starts in 2020 or 2021.
