Javed Omar: No-Duck ODI Player in the World
This is an Interesting Statistics.
Out of 1479 All-time ODI players, if we sort out the players who played at least 30 matches, only 7 of them never scored a duck in their ODI career. Javed Omar is the one of them. Other 6 players in this elite group are Peter Kirsten (SA), Jacob Rudolph (SA), Graeme Smith (SA), Kepler Wessels (AUS/SA), Robert Russell (ENG), and Yashpal Sharma (IND). Among them, Javed Omar, Jacob Rudolph and Graeme Smith are current players in world cricket.
Total 1479 players played in 2240 ODI since the beginning of One-day cricket. Javed Omar is one of this small group of 7 players holding no-duck record!!
Weird Record, but record indeed!!!

shewar is correct...JOs SR is not that bad compared to our teams average....in fact only aftab and ash have significantly higher SRs.
as far as AVG goes, JO has one of the highest for all time BD players...including an AVG that even ashraful would be envyous of.
however, his time is done...he will not play another ODI for us again, and may not play any more tests unless abir fails miserably in the coming weeks.
thanks for all you have given us JO, you might warrior, and i wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Javed Omar's batting average compared to other openers in that 7-batsman list may be poor, but if you compare Al Shahriar's record to Javed Omar's, then it is certainly a much better record!

So much criticism about Javed Omar but I don't think he is a bad batsman at all comparing him with other BD players. Beside, if he isn't any good why BD selectors keep selecting him series after series. There must be somthing that he is doing right!

Regardless how good or bad he was..... the reallity is there should not be a place (regular 11) for Javed in our current national team for ODI.
For Test team, we should seriously start thinking about Javed's alternative. The sooner the better. I have no problem keeping Javed as a standby reserve player for few more years.
javed served his purpose. Now we are trying to go to the next stage. And its time to move on (unless he surprise us and extend his form/performance to the next level as well)
