Default World Cup XI

1. Tamim
2. Soumya
3. Liton
4. Mushfiq
5. Shakib
6. Riyad
7. Sabbir
8. Miraz
9. Saifuddin
10. Mash
11. Fizz

Sorry for not keeping Mithun. I would like to but in this wc, we need a bit of explosiveness. If Liton fails then Mithun can surely take his place. One of the openers might fail early and in that case either tamim/liton or soumya/liton can guide us through the powerplays. I dont like Shakib at one down. He is too important of a player to lose early as our batting relies on him heavily. Saifuddin can provide extra batting, hence in place of rubel. Riyad/sabbir/miraz/saifuddin/mash looks like a good lower middle order. With the shakib and mushy guiding through middle overs. Top order also looks solid with tamim/soumya/sabbir. I also think Mithun would be handy but tough to place him in the XI. I really liked his fighting spirit and attitude since the asia cup.

What do fellow BC members think or prefer ? Please share your preferred XI.

Shakib has clearly expressed his wishes to play at #3 and will play at that position during WC. You got your line up wrong.

Tamim
Liton/SS(I will interchange between these 2, no point keeping 2 ticking timebombs in the playing XI, playing one will create competition between them, either one of them doing good is enough for us to win 50% of the match)
Shakib
Mushy
Mithun
Mullah
Sabbir
Saif
Miraz
Mash
Fizz

Just because he played 3 odis in one down doesn’t mean that he will play in that position through out the tournament. Management might be doing an experiment here and its paying off. But its not set in stones. Losing Shakib early would put a serious dent on our batting in the middle and later part of the innings.

Soumya cannot be considered hit and miss at this stage surely? He averages nearly 36 from over 40 ODIs, that’s as good as the seniors.

his avg is 36 because of his brilliant start in 2015..when his Avg was 50+..if you check his avg in last 3 years it comes down to 28 which is slightly better than liton

at the same time most of the seniors are hitting 40+ if not 50+

Soumya and liton both seem to be fluent in their batting in this series. Its a healthy competition. Liton is inconsistent. Liton seem to have liking for Indian attack and should play against them. He has that ability to take the game away from opposition if he can go past 20 runs.

Batting wise, we have to play attacking cricket against subcontinent teams. With aus/sa/nz/eng, shak miraz has to contain them with spin and mosaddek can come in place of saifuddin with non sub-con teams.

There is a gaping hole in the middle order between mushfiq and Mahmadullah.

Point is, if mithun fails a few matches in that position, I don’t see a replacement.

Sabbir/ Miraz cannot bat up the order otherwise you lease the last power play (overs 40-50) exposed

if mithun fails have to go with mosaddek as there are no alternatives..mithun has done well..i am not expecting him to win any match for us..he is there for supporting role

Only way we are going to win match is if 2 of our big 4 in batting scores along with SS or LD fires

Also if bowling dpt does half decent in the roads

Check out BD batsmen stats against the top teams in ODIs, look at the averages:
http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/eng...s;type=batting

Yes the last 3 years give a more recent overview but career wise against the best opposition soumya has been consistent. I left out Afghanistan since they are still not as consistently good as the top teams in ODIs. He also has the best strike rate by far comparing the top players.

This would be my lineup as well. But I don't think MGMT will put it this way.

Mithun will be replacing Liton and Shakib would bat at three. No change than the current settings/lineup. And I am not complaining.

As I said SS looks good because of his awesome 2015..he was in god mode in his 1st year in Int cricket. if you take out his 1st year he is very ordinary..his avg is 28 without 2015, that is even 28 because of Zim and Ireland

Fact still remains he’s the next best after the seniors, no other youngster has a record as good, can’t just completely disregard 2015. Mithun the next best but soumya’s strike rate stands out.

I think it’s unfair to compare Liton and soumya, soumya so far in their ODI careers has clearly been better, and I’ve been a massive Liton advocate for years.

Liton's century against the current india side was a top class knock. If these two (liton and SS) find consistency like Tamim our ODI team will go to the next level.

1. Tamim
2. Soumya
3. Shakib
4. Mushfiq
5. Liton/Mithun ( Mithun deserves this place too but I dont have much confidence in Mithun just yet)
6. Riyad (needs to bow)
7. Sabbir
8. Saifuddin
9. Miraz/Rahi ( Depends on the condition and opponent)
10. Mash
11. Fizz

Virat scores 50+ centuries.

You score 20 centuries and you were World Class. Now the bar is being raised with the pitches, rules etc. all going in favor of the batsmen. So the new bar should be 25.

BD standard, 15? None has reached it. Tamim at 11. Hopefully will reach there soon. Liton at 1, Soumya at 2, Kayes at 4.

Tamim Avg in last 3 years is WC by any year's standard but his SR is from 90s..if you count both his avg and SR in last 3 years he came to party 20 years late

I do not think management should stick to one fixed line-up. No modern team does that.

You choose your players based on opponent, weather, probable pitch condition etc.

we cannot have an opener in the #3 spot. it hasnt worked in the past and it wont work now. Stick with Shakib at 3, and either slot Litton in lower order, or keep him as 12th man.

iirc, he is still the only bdeshi to score a 100 in a knockout game. sad.

I agree with your 11. Only change perhaps is play Rubel in place of Saif.

What are you talking about? If memory serves me correctly, he has been playing in that position for a while now throughout the last couple of months. Not just this series. Highly unlikely that it will change all of a sudden out of the blue. Not to mention he has been doing well in that position

Shakib basically certain to be at 3 i’d expect. He’s been playing that position for awhile, he’s done reasonably well there plus he recently said he wants to bat in that position and everyone would surely be happy with that since he’s experienced plus he’s the most clutch player BD has and it will be the WC which is the biggest tournament in cricket.
