Match Thread: Bangladesh vs. England 1st ODI, Nottingham Jul 8, 2010 (14:30 local, 13:30 GMT)

I went to the first odi. It was great seeing Tamim smack the first 2 deliveries for fours. I was just thinking how much Junaid struggles against the short ball and then he goes and plays a pull shot right between the 2 boundary fielders. It was a good atmosphere, I think there must have been around 100-150 Bangladesh fans. The England fans were pretty funny in the 2nd innings when Bangladesh were fielding. They kept sayin Tamim give us a wave or any other Bangladesh fielder when they were fielding at the boundary. They were telling Tamim to show his socks to which he obliged. The chant is taken from football chants that probably british bengalis will be familiar with. It goes like this
"Tamim, give us a wave,
Tamim, Tamim, give us a wave"

"Tamim, show us your socks,
Tamim, Tamim, show us your socks"

He pointed to his socks first time round, then lifted his trousers 2nd time round and all the fielders kept waving to their crowd whenever they chanted their name.

There was even a congo dance at once stage from the crowd. All in all it was a good day out, shame about the performance though. Oh yeah and I also seen lotus in a blue mercedes before the game as well.
