So many Key players are still injured but still NYG is playing good. Season ending injury of CB Kenny Phillips is a great loss for NYG. For others, eventually they will come back and the team will be much stronger.
  • WR Hakeem Nicks (1st round draft pick-2009) - injured after 1st week.He may end up the 3rd reciever at the end of the regular season before playoff.
  • WR Hixon , (two years ago superball hero). The most experienced reciever that the giants have.
  • RB Andre Brown, (2nd round draft pick-2009) - injued reserve - done for the season. Was expected to be the 3rd running back fighting for #2 running back.
  • CB Aaron Ross (starter, 2008) - yet to play a game.
  • SS Kenny Phillips - one the best player in the seconday. Injured reserve. Done for the season.
  • CB Kevin Dockery (3rd CB) yet to play a game. Will play from 4th week
  • DT Tuck (starter, 2008) - injured in 2nd game, still recovering. One of the key players in NYG defence.
  • LB Clint Sintim ( 2009 Pick) is still injured. Yet to play a game. Backup. Fans were expecting some good performance from him based on splendid pre-season game performance. He will hear his name more during play-off games as he gradually gain some experience.
  • NT Chris Canty, (2009 Free agent signee) yet to play a game. Expected to be fighting for starter position.
  • KR Danny Ware - injured.
Its just tell you how strong is their reserve in every position (excpet for QB). Looks like few injuries here and there will not derail this team this season.

Not so soon. Don't forget theyve been playing without TP for the past couple of games. He's the kind of player that makes a team go. How often do predictions in the first three weeks of the season turn out to be correct anyway? Someone should put together some stats...

If the steelers win against the Chargers, they'll get the momentum they need to go for another run. Dont forget they play the Lions and Browns right after (arguably the leagues two worst teams). They've also got one of the top five easiest schedules in the league. I think they'll make the playoffs pretty easily (albeit as a wildcard, the way the Ravens are playing)...

Is that what your Parrot picked this morning?

No, Its not over yet, but we have certain things to improve. That said, the Chargers game is extremely important, and as farhad mentioned, winning that game will do wonders. It will be difficult to climb out of 1-3 hole. But, Champs will give everything they got.

Steelers don't rebuild. They recharge. Your convenient pick of the year, the Ravens, who we treat as our doormat ( something like beating 3 times a year ) won't have it that easy to take the div from us. We will see how things are in November.

Yes its still too early to predict, but not more than a week early. After next week, the regular season will be complete its 1st queater. Enough to make a educated guess. Steeler can win the next game, still they will be 2-2 i.e. they will be in the middle of pack. And with 1-3 the season most likely will be over even they win games against Detroit and Cleveland in the folling weeks. Its not only their records, its the way they are playing right now prompt me to question one week too early.

Forget about NFC, there are too many teams playing better than the steelers right now. Your door mats Ravens and Jets are playing great. As usual, Colts are also playing great. Then you have surprise teams like Denver and Cincinati. Then there is Patriots, who is playing decent if not great. If they lose to charger next week, Charger alos be ahead of them.

So I guess Steelers have more things to worry first even before worrring about their door mat.

All those teams that you mentioned are playing better than Steelers at this moment. No doubt about that. Steelers are notorious slow starters. No exception this year. Its not that we got blown out in all these games, but very easily we could have ( should have ) been 3-0 ( all three games decided by three points ) even when we haven't played up to our standard. But, we did not. We are 1-2. Its early. Steelers always stumble around in Sep and Oct. Don't know why.

Not worried about Ravens. They have beaten Cleveland and Kansas City. Two real bad teams. Chargers put up 500 yrds against them. Their defense is not as good as last year. I don't worry about them. The mental block they have against us is good enough to give us two victories. Flacco will find a way to hand it to us again, beacuse no running back can run on us, ceratinly not the Ravens backs. Its the Ravens that worry about Steelers. Not the other way around. We have the trophies. They don't. We usually win it at their expense. Until you beat us, please know your place in the world.

This season is different, too many teams are playing really good in AFC. If you dig too deep a hole, basically playing good in Nov- Dec may not be enough, you need other leaders to play bad to make it up.

My comments are based on your remarks highlighted...

1. Theoretically speaking, if your opponent in your division is more than two games ahead, then they don't need to worry much about your team. And right now Raven is about to cross that threshold. if Raven is three game ahead after this week, Raven doesn’t need to worry about Steelers, but Steelers not only nned to worry about their own performance, but they need to pray that Raven falters in other games.

2. Raven has a (2nd year) new coach and a new QB (Flacco). And this is Flacco's 2nd year as a starter. Its too early to discount him as a QB. There is quite a good review of his performance so far this year. So if I were you, I won’t take for granted that he will again make key mistakes in key games.

3. Winning trophies is the ultimate goal for a particular year and it is great achievement indeed, but historically speaking most of the winners usually follow with a below par season next year or so. So yes great for Steelers fans for 2008-2009 season, but future may not be so great for 2009-10.

Agreed. Agree with much of all you said. But, never discount the Champs. Again, this conversation will be much more fruitful in a few weeks than right now. I took issue with your rebuilding comment. We just don't rebuild like a lot of other franchises. We compete year in and year out. That's a fact. Its hard to repeat but we always manage to make the playoffs and see where it may fall. We do tweaking, not rebuilding.

Saints will finally get to play against a defense and we will see how they respond. It should be interesting to say the least. Keep doubting. Jets are for real.

lol, Sadi, where have you been? This is not your fantasy football you know. By the way, are you playing this year?

Good contest. Saints are on fire though. Unmovable object facing irresistable force.

I also think Jets are for real. The defense for sure is for real. Saints had trouble with Buffalo defense, which is good, but not great, but Jets have real good players playing on defense. However, the game being in NO on their fast turf, Saints will put up some points. They will also give up some points. Clock eating drives are the best way to deal with Offense like Saints. Keep Brees on the sideline as long as possible. I think, Jets squeak this one out. But, won't be surprised if Saints win. Good game. Ravens-Pats the other huge game, and off course, the Champs-Chargers game is almost like a playoff game for us in week 4.

Looks like JETS ran into a better defense than a better offense.
Brees didn't lose the match.

Manning, Payton that is, having fun again. That end of the half touchdown was classic with minute something left in the clock.

Russell continues to hurt Raiders. His big arms means nothing if he keeps throwing interceptions, his big body means nothing if he keeps fumbling. Why not bench him and let him learn? He is performing worse than his rookie season.

Boys offense played a sorry game. Mostly because of Romo.

Guess he isn't. Still not bad so far though. 3-1 isnt bad at all. Now they just have to prove they can keep up that intensity. Don't forget they were 8-3 at one point last year. Most people would take that before 3-1 in a heartbeat.

Good news for the pats though. We dominated the Ravens for 90% of the game before letting them take a whiff. And Mayo's coming back next week. I sense good things to come... Snapping three separate unbeaten streaks in three weeks would surely make a statement. I'll hate seeing McDaniels in the Broncos sidelines though, I really liked that dude when he was with the Pats...

I was impressed by the Ravens. Flacco seems like the real deal. I think he's going to go on to have a better career than Matt Ryan...

Our Offense isn't that good, Until Thomas Jones gets benched

After yesterday we are the best defense in the League, Sanchez went through some growing pains yesterday we'll bounce back.

WE held the Saints in the superdome to 10 points, If Sanchez doesnt throw the pick 6 in the red zone we probably would have won. I could have lived with the fumble in the endzone.

Monday Night Lets go!

Much needed victory against Chargers and Ravens loss adds up to being one game back in the AFC North. Detroit and Cleveland are the next two on our schedule. Time to wrack up some W's and move up.

Looks like Ravens’ defense is not the same as last year. However their offense, and specially their QB is playing much better. Yes looks like Flacco is the real deal.
Same is true about Steelers defense. Their defense is vulnerable against good teams. However their QB proved last year that he can indeed win a game for them. And this season he continue to play like this.

The Patriots are good team like usual. However they are no longer the dominant team like before. They can beat any team in their good days, they can also lose a game against any decent team, any given day.

Gaints is playing pretty decent... KC is pretty bad, bit still they are winning games with ease against the teams they are supposed to win. In the mean time they will get back some of their injured starters.
Cowboys season is going nowhere. Their QB was over hyped last few seasons, now he is crumbling under pressure. Looks like their coach will be fired sometime in season.

I usually divide the (regular) season into four quarters. And 1st quarter is almost done for most of the teams.

For 1st quarter here is how I rank them:
  • 4-0 is great for 1st quarter.
  • 3-1 is good enough,
  • 2-2 is kind one step backward for any supposedly good team.
  • And for 1-3 teams, they are already in a hole.
  • For 0-4 teams the season is pretty much over
In AFC, after 1st quarter (4 games),
  • Exclusive club (4-0): Colts, Denver followed by
  • Class A club (3-1): Jets, Patriot, Ravens, Cincinnati
  • Class B club (2-2): Steelers, Jaguars, Texans, Chargers
  • Class C Club (1-3): Miami, Buffalo, Raiders
  • Non relevant Club (0-4): Cleveland, Titans, Chiefs
In NFC, after 1st quarter (4 games),
  • Exclusive club (4-0): Giants, Saints
  • Class A club (3-1): Bears, 49ers
  • Class B club (2-2): Cowboys, Redskins
  • Class C Club (1-3): Lions, Seahawks
  • Non relevant Club (0-4): Buccaneers, Rams
Notes (teams who haven’t played their 4th game):
  • Vikings will be between Exclusive club and Class A based on tonight's game
  • Packers will be between Class A and Class B team based on tonight's game
  • Eagles will be between Class A and Class B team based on next week's 4th game.
  • Falcons will be between Class A and Class B team based on next week's 4th game.
  • Panthers will be between Class C and Non relevant team based on next week's 4th game.
  • Cardinals will be between Class B and Class C team based on next week's 4th game.
Its great to see Giants is still one of the four unbeaten teams.
Next quarter, the target is 3-1. That will make Giants 7-1 and Ravens 6-2.
