speed wize, i think rajib out runs masri. in fact, mashri's speed is nothing exceptional. its very close to taposh as well. its his head that makes things different.
if i'm not mistaken, two pacer hunt found waskuruni polash and kamrul hassan are the two fastest bowler right now who speeds better than even shahadat. even though some says polash has a suspect bowling action.

Why compare only speed? A bowling machine could be faster than either of those two.
Speed does not matter as much as line, length and variation. And what makes a bowler stand out is his mental facility for agression and intelligence. Being agressive in a dumb way does not buy a bowler anything.
Mashrafe wins hands down in a comparison right now. But in a month the situation can change if Rajib uses his chance in England with prudence. Up to him.
Gotta tell you though - reading all his comments so far in the newspapers - there is a definite lack of maturity in his thought process. All he seems to want is to bowl fast, not worry about variation.
Lets hope he evolves during the England series and becomes as good as Mashrafe or even better.

What matters most is controll in line and length, also ability to swing both ways in good pace; variations also help:
MASHRAFI ( almost there)
Rajib must learn first/fast and quite a long way to go,yet! I think the potential is there but what about temparement...have to wait and see.

I don't know how much rajib can do specially in the seaming condition in england. I think he is raw material but lack experience. However, potential is there so just give him bit of a time at the top level.
As for mashrafi he is a proven performer but it is going to be interesting to see how he cope with this seaming condition.

one thing that can go FOR rajib is that he has experience playing in england. even though he played against u19 team, he did bowl in english pitch.

During the very recent Grameen phone pacer hunt program... Rajib's top speeded recorded to be 78mph... and with 10% error on BCB speed gun counted(as said by the organizers) his speed becomes something like 85/86 mph.

I wonder whether McIness made assumptions or really knew the speed from speed guns. But isnt it unlikely there will b speed guns for such matches

Rajib 90 mph ? Is he a Brett Lee or what ? Line and length is so important , even Brett Lee doesn't get a chance in the test cricket . Kasper is bowls to maintain is line and lenght all the time so he gets in the aussie test squad all the time . Bowling fast is not the better option to maintain the line and lenght more important in test cricket with few bouncers and yorkers .

Fast diya ki hobey bhai ? Strike rate tai ashol ....... ok we watch them both in next series who is the fastest now just days to go speed will come up on the screen anyway
Think about our ground-fielding we might drop heaps of catches under the chilli condition in England . In the match we can't afford to drop any catches at all . That's more important for now if we drop the catches of the big stars of England we will suffer big time , Catches win matches .

That is a straighforward comparison between Masree's Test/ODI matches and Rajib's Age group/A-team matches. It won't work that way. Every player falls in both Average and Strike Rate when he enters from Age/A-teams to the National team.
Anyways... Rajib is also highly potential... lets see how he does.

Dav: Mortaza could have made ROW squads
Monday May 09 2005
'It would have been a shot in the arm'
Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore believes fast bowler Mashrafe Mortaza should have been included in the 39-man Rest of the World Test and one-day international squads announced by the International Cricket Council on Monday.
The young paceman, who embarrassed England on their 2003-04 tour, has taken 43 wickets in just 16 Tests thus far.
"I was really hoping he might be in that group," said Whatmore, a former Australian Test player.
"I may be biased but the boy can play. He has real competitiveness and a sense of self-belief.
"It would have been a huge boost for him, he comes from a team which is developing and it would have been a real shot in the arm and have helped the whole country along to have someone represented."
