Default Shoaib, Moin, Razzaq to appear before

Shoaib, Moin, Razzaq to appear before
PCB commission today

KARACHI, April 27: Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will appear before the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical commission on Wednesday along with former captain Moin Khan and all rounder Abdul Razzaq.

A PCB spokesman said on Monday that Shoaib had confirmed that he would be available to appear before the medical commission on April 28.

"The commission has also called Moin Khan and Razzaq the same day at the National cricket academy," he added.

The members of the commission are: Dr Abdul Wajid (orthopaedic surgeon, Agha Khan Hospital), Dr Naseer Ahmed (former head of orthopaedic department, King Edward Medical College), Dr Riaz Ahmed (Pakistan team doctor) and Dr Sohail Saleem (member, PCB panel of doctors).

The commission will examine the injuries to Moin Khan, Abdul Razzaq, Shabbir Ahmed, Umar Gul and Shoaib Akhtar that they sustained during the recent home series against India.

Shoaib’s brother Shahid Akhtar said that the fast bowler was due to return from Mumbai on Monday night. "What he has confirmed is his availability on Wednesday."

The PCB Chief Executive Mr Rameez Raja said the commission has not been constituted to find an escape-goat and punish him for the series loss to India.

"It has been constituted to find why so many players got injured and what can be done in future to prevent so many injuries. The other objective is to help the players get their names cleared from the general perception that they faked their injuries, if they were genuinely injured. But while saying this, I must make myself very clear that if it was proved that some players did fake their injuries, they will be taken to task," he said in an earlier statement.

The medical commission besides studying the MRI reports of Shoaib and the other players will also have a bone scan taken of Shoaib on Wednesday to confirm how serious his injury was.

Default X-ray shows Shoaib did not feign injury: family

Fiery Pakistani pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar had his rib fractured while playing against India in the decisive third Test, his brother said, amid a probe into suspected feigned injuries.

"My brother appeared before a PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) medical commission and his X-rays proved that his 11th rib was fractured," Shoaib's elder brother Shahid Akhtar told AFP on Wednesday.

The top Pakistani paceman hopes to get a fair deal from the probe investigating whether he feigned his injury during the match in Rawalpindi this month, he added.

"As an obedient servant of Pakistan cricket, Shoaib appeared before the commission and now X-rays proved he was injured, he hopes to continue playing for Pakistan," said Shahid.

Shoaib himself refused to comment on the issue, pending the investigation.

PCB not accepted the injury report of Shoaib, they will wait for the report of commission. PCB is not happy as all the news is publishing without PCB’s concern. BBC news
