It is better to be out an over earlier with the same score than to bat to the end with it. NRR goes down the longer you bat if you don't exceed the run rate from the over before.

You can only protect NRR if you are actually scroring at a higher rate. No point just batting out the overs for the sake of it as you suggested.

Touché - I was led to believe when NRR was calculated

The concept of net run rate involves taking the opponents' final run rate away from the team's run rate. The only complication is that if a team is bowled out, it is not the balls faced which their score is divided by; instead the full quota of overs is used (e.g. 50 overs for a One Day International and 20 overs for a Twenty20 match).

So any additional runs scored would have been a bonus, seeing as the total runs was always going to be divided by 20.



Possibly why, if you look to the top right hand corner, there are two Run Rates for Dhaka, one the actual RR(in brackets) and a second one - lower, and calculated based on 20 overs.

Afridi to join Gladiators today

Pakistani cricketers Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal are set to join Dhaka Gladiators today for their semi-final match in the Bangladesh Premier League, said the franchise on Monday.

The duo are expected to land at 8:00am at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, hours before Dhaka Gladiators are scheduled to take on Khulna Royal Bengals in the second semi-final at 6:30pm.

Afridi was picked by Dhaka for $700,000 in BPL auction, the highest amount paid to any player, though

the all-rounder always insisted that he will prefer the national team duty to BPL.

Pakistan’s series against England ended on Monday and keeping that in mind Dhaka just took the chance said the Dhaka official.

Afridi’s presence has become more crucial as they are set to lose West Indian hard-hitter Kieron Pollard today for his commitment with the national team.

Meanwhile, a large group of Pakistani cricketers will arrive from Dubai this morning for the semi-finalists. While Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal are slated to appear for Dhaka Gladiators, hard-hitting opener Awais Zia will join the senior pros in the same team. Chittagong will have Umar Akmal and Wahab Riaz while Mohammad Hafeez is set to play for Khulna Royal Bengals.

They have Nazir, i don't know why they bought A.Zia. plus, they got only 2 games left(max), not like 10 games.

Why does it matter? Pakistan has some talented T20 players and as they are one of the only ones not busy and able to fly quickly to Dhaka it only makes sense.

I have serious concern about Dhaka playing in CLT20. If they do win BPL, I would not be surprised if CLT20 thukku I mean BCCI says Pak players can't play in CLT20 because it will be held in India. If that really does happen Dhaka will turn into a dudh bhat team.

Yes, I'm also doubtful about their performance in CLT20... Forget BCCI, even PCB might not give them clearance on some apparently genuine grounds.... And this team won't even look like a Team from BD. Globalization is fine, but Pakistanization isn't.. DG should look for some variety in international players.
