Golam Rahman : another promising player
Golam Rahman scored 160 against good Dhaka bowling attack. He is only 19 and left hander. Sorecard of the Dhaka-Sylhet match
Good to see a big 100 from such a young kid.

yes. 100's from the local players, let alone big ones, had dried up in the local leagues.

Golam Rahman has two 50s and a 100 on his belt from 4 previous 1st class matches. Thats impressive...
We should look into this guy more...May be the first national batsman from Sylhet region in the making...

I agree that he is a promising star. But we have look at him couple more year, before we consider him for national team. BCB should include him in the High performance now.

I think I read it somewhere. He is the U-17 captain. Hence he's actually not 19. He was dropped twice , at 6 and 13. Fantastic concentration level. Congrats for 160.

Is anyone saying he should be in National Team?
So whats wrong to recongnize his recent success ( 160 runs) and point out that he is a young kid and he may be a player to watch for future growth.

Yes, I agree with Fazal- you are correct about his impressive performance against Dhaka- but I'm not really sure about Dhaka's bowling- I don't think its as strong as the likes of Chittagong or Khulna for that matter.
So I would like to see more consistency- but its is definitely a plus to see young left-handed batters coming up the system these days. I see a very very bright future for our country's cricket and who know we can even have a couple of them playing County to get some experience!

I think Dhaka bowling is better than Chittagong, Rajshahi and Barishal.
Dhaka : Talha, Anwar Hossain Munir, Rafique, Chacha (all played test cricket)
Chittaging : Only Tareq Aziz played test cricket.

The teenage batsman informed he made his entry into the under-17 and Under 19 teams a couple of years ago when he was almost a kid. However, he was overlooked at the last Under-19 World Cup for his inconsistent batting.

So, according to NewAge, all the three Golam's from Sylhet are brothers! with the centurion Golam rahman being the youngest of the trio.
Golam rahman
Golam Mowla
Golam mabud
My question to Mr. tintin, our resident stat guru : How many instances in first class cricket that three brothers played in one match? Chapell brothers maybe?

There is also another set trio in the same Sylhet team. However One brother didn't played due to injury. They are:
Narsirul Alam Nahid
Naim
Rajin Saleh ( didn't played due to injury)

Please check out the report from The Daily Star: '... 17-year-old Himel's brilliant knock, that lasted eight hours finally ended when his glance was taken down the leg by Anwar off Mehrab Hossain Jr (305-9)..."
That means he is 17 years old, not 19 years.

I personally couple of time played against Naim and Rajin(During 1993-1994), well have to admit that at that time Rajin was only 11 or 12 years old, so never knew that he would become national star, but I always thought that Naim as potential. I use to get lots of advice from Nahid bai. That time he was one of the best off spiner come batsman or let say alrounder in Sylhet. Its nice to see that these guys are still playing.
There was a saying in sylhet that if you are from Aided school of sylhet you born to be a good crickt player. And all of these guys are from aided school. because at that time all the star player of sylhet first division came from aided school, and if any one remember Nirman school leage Aided school was the best one. Although I'm not from that school.

I meant the first 'real' national batsman. I still have a feeling that Rajin or Alok are not complete batsmen.. This little guy seems to be much more complete batsman than those two, according to one person who watched all three of them playing. I should admit that I have never seen GOlam Rahman playing.
Please don't attack me on these statement, I am not trying to beat someone or to prove someone wrong. I am just telling my opinion.

Right now we don't need any right hannded batsmen in national team. We need a genuine left hand batsman who could be Shariar Nafees!!!!!

I've seen him play, just once thaugh. Can be shaky in the beginning but once settled has the potential to score big. He grows with time. Hope to see bigger and better innings from him. Good luck to him.
