Default The Nazimuddin Thread

Nazimudin has just made his debut in Tests in CTG on Dec 9th 2011 vs Pakistan and looked the most impressive than the rest.
He scored a matured 31 under pressure in 1st innings & remains not out on 41 on 2nd inns at the end of day 3.
Hope he gets his maiden 50 tomorrow.

For quite sometime we have been hoping to see a left hand-right hand opening combination,as well as a reliable partner for Tamim.
Hopefully he proves himself good enough for that spot.

Let's welcome Nazim to test cricket & wish him all the very best.

IMHO a official thread should be about a player who is in the news all the time..so a member can post his news in one thread rather then opening different threads..Now a days this official threads about every ram sam jodu modu is becoming more annoying then Ashraful..this is just how i feel

So far looked great. His technique and feet movement in last few years seems to improved tremendously and looked complete different player. Liked his approach too. To me it seems he wants to succeed. All the best.

yes,now a days an official thread is opened for almost every player.
I just couldn't resist myself from opening my 1st Official thread.

Still early days for NAzim, but in a time when Imrul & SN not looking good, and even Tamim struggling,we desperately were looking forward to some new blood to play a more responsible role in the top order.

Ya, we needed new blood and Nazim is a good choice but Nasir might not be perfect for top/middle order as he always plays at lower middle order and I think he feels comfortable there. Though I wanted to push him up. But that didn't work

Most, if not every, BD debutant looks amazing at the beginning...just at the beginning. The guy has a lot more to show.

I had asked before why he wasn't given a chance despite his good performance. Clearly proving his worth now, congrats to him for showing a good temperament and solid technique.

Kick Fool and Nafees out, bring Anamul and Dhiman in.

Seems to be a nice decent batsman as compared to other bangladeshi batsmen.

That temperament alone will help him go a long way in our batting line up. This is the difference between debuting a guy with 75+ First Class match experience and a decent average, and a guy with less than 10 First Class match experience with a few 50s and hundreds.

I've been very impressed with Nazimuddin this time. Not just by looking at his stats but also his technique, temperament and approach. He looked a lot more comfortable in the middle compared to our other batsmen. We know he's an aggressive batsmen when he wants to be, but he curbs that aggression very well in Tests. Best of luck to him and hope he continues to do well for us.

he is very good at playing those cut shots.
his temperament is very good, his techniques are pretty good unlike Kaedge or SN who keep edging every now & then.

I have seen him batting in short versions.Last time i saw Nazimuddin was the ICL.Up to that he had severe technical issue.Lack of feet movement was the main issue.Last year at Dhaka against WI and SA A team he had decent performance. Then at SA with the A team he had an extremly poor series. He was dropped from the A team and our selectors were so cruel he was not drafted in the Board cup.But all in a sudden he came to the scene.
Due to ICL saga he had no way but to concentrate on domestic. And its clear he worked a lot to improve his technique. In this test he is showing very good technique.I hope he will continue this and wishing his good future. But one thing is in my mind that is why he was so unsuccessfull in SA with the A team? And Basically he is a make shift opener. Its a tough job to survive in test cricket as opener. But so far he is successfull.

The new Nazimuddin does seem to have pretty good temperament, seems to look to middle the ball early on and has a decent stride forward - which is a huge contrast to the version that made his debut in the shorter formats a few years ago.

Two things might have gone in his favor so far in this Test match. For one, he has been made to work extremely hard to regain a spot in the national team, which probably forced him/gave him the opportunity to go back to the drawing board, take a serious look at his flaws and put his head down and fix them. He knew his chances of making a comeback were low and he sucked it up and did what he had to.

Secondly, having featured in the NCL every year has probably provided some sort of continuity, which he has been able to bring in to international cricket. Given how our national players don't have to fight as hard to keep their places and how they hardly ever play any games when not on national duty (national duty hardly counts as match practice when you only survive two deliveries per inning), it comes as no surprise that they suck big time.

Give Nazimuddin a year, and he will likely turn into an Ashraful or a Mofees. The only way to fix this never-ending cycle is to ensure that the NCL is long enough that the players get enough domestic cricket when they're not busy failing for the national team. This should give them some breathing space so that they can work on their games in a competitive setting without the "burden" of having to perform in international matches and will provide some much needed continuity.

^The very important point made here is more NCL matches are needed. No excuses for having so few matches over a course of a year. Some of these national team players have barely played any NCL matches over the years due to international games and you could see what's going on. The only FC matches that these guys play is Tests but they need additional practice. So NCL matches are great to get your technique and temperament improved upon. As long as we continue this cycle, we'll see our players playing like ODI players because that's mostly what they play. Hopefully BCB takes note
