AFC Asian Cup 2007 Draw (groups and Dates fixed)
As you already know that Bangladesh has made it into the tournament by defeating Pakistan. Now you will be shocked to hear that Pakistan has also made it into the tournament, because Sri Lanka has withdrewn from the tournament.
The group matches will be played on a home and away basis between February 22 and November 15, with the top two teams from each group advancing.
The 12 qualifiers will join the four hosts - Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia - at the finals, which kick off on July 9, 2007
South Asian Teams Analysis
Bangladesh has to compete with two highly competitive teams in Group F. Uzbekistan and Qatar. Uzbekistan was the quarter-finalist in China 2004. We also have Hong Kong in our group. In order for us to advance to the next round we would have to beat Qatar and Hong Kong.
India, I don't think they will make it to the next round, because they are facing heavy competion. They have to play against Japan and Saudi Arabia. Japan is the current defending champion. Japan and Saudi Arabia have both won the Asian Cup on three occasions. This means India is going no where.
Pakistan, They will have a tough time at the tournament.
Group C is likely to be hard fought, with Jordan, Oman and the United Arab Emirates battling for the top two spots. This means Pakistan will be left in the darkness.
In conclusion : Bangladesh is the only South Asian nation who is most likely to advance to the next round.

... most likely to advance to the next round?! defeating Uzbek, Qatar and Hong Kong?! I dont think so.
As a matter of fact Bangladesh most likely going to finish pointless along with Pakistan and perhaps India too.

how come so many of the SAFF teams made it to the Asian Cup this time? when was the last time we played? is this because we used to end up playing stronger teams for the qualifiers in the past, and so used to fail to qualify?

Not really. Bangladesh will be in a better position than Pakistan and India. When you look at how much competition Bangladesh faces vs. the competition India and Pakistan faces. The Answer will be Bangladesh is most likely to go to the next round out of the three South Asian Nations.

It's kind of funny that Australia is included into the Asian Cup 2007 Draw. I mean thats a totally different continent we are talking about here. Australia’s entry into the AFC was approved last year with the blessing of world football governing body FIFA.

Relax guys, its the Asian Cup "Qualifiers", no tthe Asian Cup.
Nevertheless at least Bangladesh had to go through some sort of qualifiers to get into this round.
I would hope Bangladesh beats Hong Kong and pushes Qatar/Uzbekistan, losing by not more than 2 goals. That would be the best we can achieve realistically
