Algeria demonstrated the qualitative difference between themselves and the Italians they were trying to emulate. Holding on to a 1-goal lead against a superior offense isn't easy. BTW, Marouane Fellaini is of Moroccan heritage. No love lost between the North African neighbors in sports to begin with, but now things just got worse.

Hong Myung Bo talked about how inexperienced his team is and we saw an excellent demonstration of that. Korea couldn't hold the lead. That said, I see these young guys doing great in 2018.

Rusia should pay tribute to all their worthless victims over the centuries for a system so deceptive
they practiced knowingly acknowledging the faults.

They should win the world cup. It is now or never.

Korea-Algeria. Promises to be an excellent match provided both teams take a positive approach. Algeria have finishing issues but are a faster and stronger side with a well-organized defense. I think the Koreans would steal this one on a counterattack.

Belgium-Russia. Which Russia will show up today? We know which Belgium would show up. Belgium are likely winners in this one.

Team news

Belguim v Russia (17:00 BST)

Belgium make three changes to their side that beat Algeria 2-1 and it is bad news for Tottenham fans as Nacer Chadli, Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele all drop to the bench. Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini, a goalscorer against Algeria, comes in, as does Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen. Dries Mertens, who also scored in their first match, is the third new player.

Belgium starting XI: Courtois, Alderweireld, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vermaelen, Witsel, Fellaini, De Bruyne, Mertens, Hazard, Lukaku.

Two changes for the Russians that sees former Chelsea man Yuri Zhirkov only named as one of the substitutes. Fabio Capello keeps faith with goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

Russia starting XI: Akinfeev, Kozlov, Ignashevich, Kanunnikov, Glushakov, Kokorin, Berezutskiy (c), Shatov, Samedov, Fayzulin, Kombarov.

Lot of positive intent from the Russians. Their central defenders seem solid but the wing backs iffy. Good game so far.

Mertens is running amok on the right and not missing by much. Russia need to make some tactical adjustments or else.

The Belgians have excellent forwards but need something more creative than aerial balls to Lukaku.

What a miss from Kokorin. Completely unmarked and at the end of a perfect cross. Russia's best chance so far.

Jiru-Jiru at the half. Evenly poised match. Both sides had their chances.

Chowdhury Jafrullah Sharaphat: "Eeden Hejard", no relation to the cricketer "Eeden Bili-Jard".
