I liked his bowling but IMO he needs to become a bit faster. Is he quicker than the current Mash? Or Sayeed Rasel?

this kid has loads of potential. The way he was beating the bat of the batsmen consistently is something i haven't seen in a while from a Bangladeshi bowler, especially on debut!! Looks to be a very intelligent bowler who knows what he is doing and seems very calm and composed.
He would be great in odis and tests especially. I think this kid has more potential than Taskin. Taskin seems to be about pace and hitting the pitch hard but Mustafizur is more tricky to face and has that extra x factor about him. But them two bowling from both ends would be a great combo!
It would be fantastic if he beefs up a little more and bowls 5ks faster but that is not the primary concern for me because his line and length and wrist movement is what is more important. Jeez all these young kids coming in are performing from the word go.

You are joking right? Four overs against two blind sloggers from Pakistan and you are rating him above Taskin? Taskin is head and shoulders above any pacer we produced since Mash himself.

He looks to be a fast medium, a lot quicker than Rasel. His ball to Afridi was probably around 135 k if not faster. Only saw the highlights of his two wicket balls...if he was moving the ball as much as he was, then we have a very good prospect on our hands.
|
Actually Mash is listed at 6'3'' and comparing him to other players he'll be about 6'2''. Saw him in BPL standing next to Gayle who stands at 6'4'' and about an inch or 2 between them, then again with his knees and back, I don't expect there to be a consistent height, his height will definitely change througout the day by atleast an inch.
Also CI heights of young players tends to be an inch or so shorter than what they are..maybe they use records from when they're about 16..
But Mustafizur could be 5'11''

I saw him in patches today, he looked to be pretty good medium pacer, swinging the ball & using wrist positions and angles of delivery pretty effectively.
My question is, why is he only drafted for T20s and not for any other format? He seems to be a wicket taking bowler than containing, why is he not considered for Test/ODI?
|
Rasel used to bowl about 73-77mph
He got some success? - In his prime he was probably our best bowler, he averaged about 27-28 during his peak, before his shoulder injury, which took his swing away.
yes he got some successes due to accuracy & abnormal lack of pace, but never anything phenomenal - Thats incorrect, He got quite a bit of success over a short period of time, due to his accuracy and swing and variations, nothing to do with his lack of speed, you don't trouble good batsmen just being an accurate medium bowler.
so if you say he isn't as good as Rasel, then I must say something is wrong here.- That makes no sense, Rasel was a great bowler during his peak and this kid is 19, you really think he's better than a peak rasel?, nothing wrong here, Mustafizur isn't as good as rasel, and non of our current bowlers in the current state is better than a peaked rasel.
I saw him in patches today, he looked to be pretty good medium pacer, swinging the ball & using wrist positions and angles of delivery pretty effectively. - He was faster than Medium, Medium is about 68-73 - thats medium, Devilliers is Medium. He was bowling at about 80, which is medium fast and should develop into a fast medium bowler in the future bowling 130-139.
My question is, why is he only drafted for T20s and not for any other format? He seems to be a wicket taking bowler than containing, why is he not considered for Test/ODI? - This kid is 19..And he's a line and length bowler, which in most cases is a containing bowler, he doesn't really attack the stumps or the bowlers (not to say he wont be a good wicker taker)
ODI's - Rubel - Great Form, Taskin - Proven at the top Level, Mash...
Test - He's 19..we don't need another Talha Jubair or Mash, let him develop, forget him, Taskin is still a Good year away from tests, Mustafizur, Needs 2/3 more years of development

Mash is NOT 6'3". I can guarantee that. Do you know how tall 6'3" is? It is very tall even by US or Australian standards.
Mash is 6'1"... Taskin 6'2"... Mustafiz 5'11"...Shahadat 6'3"... Rubel 5'9".

Mustafizur's bowling action is very similar to this fast bowler that played for India a while back, RP Singh. He needs to put on some weight. If he loses few pounds he'll almost be like Shafi.

Someone on PP said he looks a bit like Amir and I agree. Also see the RP thing too. Amir was very skinny. Ushant is super skinny...skinny isnt bad? Not everyone has to be brolic like Taskin.

Christian Ryan - Sarkar looks tall. His official 5ft 10in seems as reliable as the official age of young Pakistani cricketers.

I reckon about 6'

Slim isn't bad, skinny is, Amir was Slim, Mustafizur Is Skinny, he needs to add about 5-10 pound of muscle, not for speed, to avoid injuries

Yep i am. I've always liked Taskin but i never really highly rated him like many people do on BC. Mustafizur has that kind of potential to be lethal in swinging conditions.

CI says he's 5-10 and i've seen him on tv and he is 5-10. men lie about their heights and one other thing all the time. i'm 5-8 and people 2 inches shorter than me will say they are 5-10. if SS is your height you ain't 6-1 bro. and if you're 6-1, shahadat is 6-10 and irfan 9-6.

Soumya is around 5'11 to 6 foot I reckon. This pic might give us an idea. He's standing next to Taskin who is 6'2 and there is not that much difference in height between the two.

Mustafizur action and shaping of bowling to me looks so much similiar to Pakistani Aamir. when I saw his first delivery i was like wow how come Aamir came to bowl here against Pakistanis ). also his angel of pitching and extra bounce all similiar to Aamir. I don't mean that he is another Aamir but I see him as very good future for us. I think when he can learn and master the nipping back deliveries that will be huge thing for him. The deliveries which were going past Sehzad's and Hafeez bats they were awesome. the lad can produce bit mobement and swing too.

Doesn't matter what they are listed as, what matters is their real height. And mash is 6'1.

i am 6 foot 1 bro. When i met Soumya i wasn't on level ground with him. I was standing on a platform type thing cos i was in the stands and he was on the field. And he was pretty tall, looked to be around my height.

I think BP's judgement can be trusted as long as he's not asked to verify IK's height
