Bowling Discipline: no WIDE no NO
Bangladeshi bowlers did not bowl a single WIDE or NO ball today in the match against Zimbabwe. Bangladeshi bowlers bowled 45 over without delivering any WIDE or NO ball. This was a great example of bowling discipline from our bowlers.
I was curious to check whether we did any better in the past. And found out this is the second time our bowlers showed such bowling disciplne. In a reduced 25 over match against West Indies in West Indies in May, 2004, our bowlers showed similar performance of not bowling any NO or WIDE.
I did not have the courage to launch a mission of checking other nation's ODI scorecard for similar records.

You should ask 'Steven' how many times other teams has done this.

Interesting find, it's nice to see our bowlers being disciplined despite setbacks in the first two matches. I'm especially glad the team didn't get complacent after the first few Zimbabwean wickets fell. Simply put, we outclassed the Zimbabweans in every department and hope to maintain this performance when they tour us in BD.

This would probably put us top of that "Least Wides/No ball" table that was devised before the CT.
BTW who is Steven?

Steven Lynch. Does a regular feature in CricInfo, where he answers pretty much any cricket-related question you've got. In short, the living-encyclopaedia of cricket.

Good to see that. But remember, the vast majority of the overs were sent down by spinners, who are less prone to send in wides and no-balls. Mashrafee rarely oversteps anyway. Shahadat has trouble with his footing and thats why I believe they are not playing him in one days. I disagree with this attitude. He should play more one dayers to improve some of his shortfalls..

we've been pretty good at this for most of dav's tenure...a cricinfo article actually talked about the diciplined bowling attacks of the world where i believe we came in 2nd best. of course it was mentioned that bangladesh rarely bowl their 50 overs in the 2nd innings of ODIs so there numbers were lower. thats not completely true, and even if it were, we have more dicipline than at least half of the other test nations.

Even though our bowlers often fail to grab wickets when it's needed, discipline is a vbery very important factor. You keep discipline and at one point batsmen got to take risk.I hope this excellent show will continue in the matches to come!

Having done this without a special coach for bowling is amazing. This is one thing to note guys...may be we're not the best team out there...but our foundation is getting stronger. Without a good foundation, how tall can you get?

We did it for a much longer period before, whole day, 95 overs, in a Test against India, in December 2004. Here's the thread we opened then:

I don't know about any 0 no ball, 0 wides in full 50 overs.
England bowled only 1 wide and 0 no balls in full 50 overs at Akai-Singer Champions Trophy, 1997/98, Final.

Doesn't make any difference as the team was the Zombies. What makes the difference is - killing instinct and application. We are lacking killing instinct in bowling and application in batting.
