Obviously I disagree with Utseya's statement, though, I have to say Taibu can own us single-handedly. He's a quality player.

He single handedly owned us before. Remember our last test match against Zimbo.

Welcome Twelfthman to BanglaCricket. Enjoy your stay.

Hopefully you will be around during the tri-series, Zim ODI series and beyond.

We have couple of good Zimbabwean posters in this forum.

You can introduce yourself to the forum using this thread -

Most of the members in the Zim forum are expecting easy win for the Zimbabwe side. We will be able to get a first look at the prospect of the side in the tri series and the ODI series from the practice match against the acdemy team.

To be honest, this is a decent side, much better than the one toured Bangladesh in 2006-07.

Welcome to BC Twelfthman.

yes, we do have few zim fans here. Andy flower ( a really good poster who used to come here often esp during last time we played zims frequently. i think it was back in 2006) Hope you see you soon mate.

Then, there was this annoying one, if im not mistaken, ILZ. Was in during 2006 and then out in a flash.

Now we have Zimfan and Twelfthman.

Anyone i'm missing?

I never knew Battye is a Zimbabwen. I always thought him to be a Pommy.

From a realistic point of view, this is a series where Bangladesh has all to lose but virtually nothing to gain. A 3-0 series win by Bangladesh will be taken lightly by cricket world as everyone expects us to win. If, for any reason, Bangladesh fail to achieve that feat, cricket pundits (Tony Greig, Chappel et al) will come hard on Bangladesh.

If we end up losing the series, which is highly unlikely, Bangladesh must face the music of the world media to drop them from the elite league. And I would not blame the media if such a war cry is started.

If i have to be concerned with, i'd be concerned with the Tri series rather than the ODI series.

In the tri-series we just play one game against each opponent and the winners go to the finals.
There is possibility that we could play bad in one of those game and lose and find ourselves out of the tournament. So we must have to win in the tri series opener.

On the other hand, it would be really hard for them to win back to back games or even two games in quick succession to win the series. This is where our experience pitches in.

Even better, if and when we do make the finals, we could put up a surprise performance and win the tournament.

Oh Miraz bhai, congrats on your 12,000th post.
Going higher and higher.

We do have something to gain, the players are used to losing, a 3-0 will do big time confidence boost for them, we have seen what this does in the last world cup opener.

Mahmood bhai, I meant virtaully nothing to gain in terms of current image/credibility crisis Bangladesh is facing.

Defeating Zim 3-0 would do little to appease the cricket administrators who are planning to strip Bangladesh's Test status, but losing the seris will fan the fire.

I doubt Tony Greig et al will stay up all night to watch Zim battle it out with BD. Besides, the ODI status is not an issue. But, Yes, we should win the series at home. Winning the first game is the key.

the key for zimbabwe is how we bat as our top order is inconsistant but we have the talant, in sean williams, hamilton masakadza and tenda taibu we have 3 world class batsman who are proven scorers at thios level unlike the majority of the bangladesh batsman (baring ash) taibu is a great player of spin with his abilty to play both the sweep shot and the reverse sweep.

The bowling is solid if not spectatular but i am sure that ray price and utseya will keep it very tight, particularly price who has been outstanding since his return. The pace department is decent with mupariaiwa and rainsford proving the pace attack which is very accurate and do not often bowl bad balls and elton chigunbura balances the team nicely

i believe that this series will be very close but with the zimbabean batsman having a better technique and shot selection that they bangladesh side i think zimbabwe will pip this series 2-1

I am not talking about the ODI status here. Zim series loss (God forbid) will be ultimately used to show the dire status of Bangladesh cricket and will be used to strengthen the logic to strip Test status.

If our players play up to their potential, the academy team should easily defeat the Zimbabwe side who are known strugglers in the sub-continent conditions.
