Guys relax. Shakib will turn it on when the game is on the line. He might be lazy, he might disappoint at times, he might struggle with form, his game might be uglier than your GF...but when the game is in the balance, he'll pull through.
Tamim is a choker. He'll play the rare match winner, hit 50s as effortlessly as Mike Tyson bites ears, but won't convert very often due to his fetish for the nicotine. I expect both to score 50s in the 2nd innings here.

It is likely due to injury. It takes even great players to hit their strides while coming back from an injury.

He is so short :P Mushy finally has someone in the team who looks up at him hahahahah. In all seriousness, Mominul has become quite amazing and mature in a short amount of time. I have high hopes for him in the future. He truly deserved that 200.

Also congrats Momin. Never thought he had it in him to convert it big. But he has! Great innings.

Shakib was sent in at #3? Did he and Marshall swap bodies?

Think he meant Shakib coming in 3rd on day 3. Not actually coming in at 3

And with that 22* Mominul quietly passed 200 runs for this match. Incredible. He also hit some sublime cover drives in this match.

He applied lots of crossed bat shots in this match, although its ok for a flat wicket here. But I hope he doesnt habituate this application.

Great to see him confident, we really can't afford to spoil him and we should just let him do his thing.

In the team, only a handful has a quiet confidence that marks them as different. I saw this in Mominul from Day 1. I hope he keeps up the hard work. Bowlers will study him and start attacking his weaknesses. How he deals with it will determine whether he is average, good, or great.

Mominul's innings came out of nowhere, what a beast! No one expected him to bail us out of the position we were in an an ODI fashion, whereas most teams would go into their shell, or in our case start collapsing like dominoes. He even went unto to register one of our highest individual test scores in only his 4th match, amazing stuff.

Mominul needs another 66 runs to surpass Tamim's record of 268 runs in a 2 match Test series.
He's just 5 runs behind Naeem Islam on the list of run getters, although he's achieved it in 7 innings, compared to Naeem's 15.
He's 4th highest run getter at No. 4 behind Mohammad Ashraful, Rajin Saleh and Aminul Islam. His average is greater than theirs by a country mile.

Like I've said many times, due to the 2nd openers spot and #3 being such weaknesses for a long time, we often overlook the fact that our #4 spot, especially in Tests have been a problem for so long. Ash, Raqibul and Riyad have not been the answers. Finally we've found 1 for at least the next few series.
Hope Mominul can be the answer for the long term at the #4 spot and believe he can be. This innings should give him confidence that he can succeed at this level.

4 is taken atleast for 4 more series for mominul unless a massive slump, but with is talent and nasiresque conistency cant see it happening so #4 is taken. Now the question is Bijoy, #3 in terms of our batting. And riyad is surely locked out for a good amount of time bevause of Gazi.

I still get the feeling that Anamul's a ODI guy and Mominul's a test guy. And I also get the feeling that we have specialists available for both format to take each one's place. Ayub was good in the tests and the guy who got the T20 chance vs Zim could be good in ODI.

Over the last 13 years, Bangladesh have had to endure a paucity of runs from their No. 4 batsman in Tests. Their newest candidate for that position, Mominul Haque, has the opportunity to make it his own. After scoring his maiden century, Mominul is already Bangladesh's fourth-highest run scorer for that position, in only seven innings, and has the best average. He is of composed character, but coping with the expectations placed on him now will be as much of a test as the challenges of batting at No. 4.

One thing I like about him is that he does not play the aerial shots much. One less option to get out.
