Players train in coach's absence

Sports Reporter.

The Bangladesh national cricket team players took part in an unofficial practice session organised by captain Mushfiqur Rahim at the Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground yesterday.

With the BCB yet to receive a proper training schedule from head coach Richard Pybus and the National Cricket League almost certain to be delayed, the players decided to go through a few routine exercises.

"Some of the spinners were going through their training courses with Saqlain (Mushtaq), and Mushfiqur (Rahim) thought it would be a good idea to bring them together for some stretching," said NCA head coach Richard McInnes. The group, apart from players from the academy, included the likes of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and vice-captain Mahmudullah Riyad.

Exactly 1 year ago, we beat WI in a T20 match in Bangladesh I know the current WI side is much stronger than the team played 1 year ago. But still, never lose hope

We have a Breaking News to cheer up now... LK will have to step down from his post. I'm sure BCB without LK will do a much better job.

By that I think u mean last yr Gayle wasn't there,as well as NArine & a few more.
But we also beat Gayled WI in a T20 cup so nothing is impossible, but I'm not thinking much abt the T20, after Asia cup we need to maintain our ODI standard.

I don't get the Narine fear...he is an outstanding bowler in the shorter form of the game, but I don't think his test career will go along the same trajectory.

Of course our 'daamal chele-s' could make Ellys Perry look like the greatest crickter ever, but I don't think Narine should be stressing us out. After all we suck in general...so lets just do what we do, and not hung up on names.

I expect a thumping - not because the WI are on a roll and mental high, but because they are simply putm streets ahead of us.

Gayle and Co and can change a test match in a session, so no matter how well we think we're going, one 90 minute block of play and the game is gone...so I am very fearful.

Regardless, it's good to be playing a full series.

Interesting points on Narine. Will he be effective in longer versions? The T20 bowling rankings is dominated by guys like Narine, Mendis, Botha, Ajmal, Swann. They have a lot of variety, and mystery and seem to thrive in situations where batsmen dont have much time to hang around and need to hit. But what about the longer version where batsmen have the luxury of time to read the bowlers action, leave the ball, play defensively? Ajmal and Swann of course have been classy in tests, but Narine, Mendis, Botha havent had the same success-at least as yet.

But although Narine is unproven in the longer format he has the necessary weapons in his armory. Its a matter of learning how to use. He can turn the ball much more than any of our bowlers. So prepare a pitch with turn and bounce, he can really cause trouble. In such situations our only consolation is Narine hasnt played enough games in the longer format.

Sunny caused a bit of problem for them last time we played them. Interesting to see if selectors are willing to put Enamul in the mix.

Regardless, it's good to be playing a full series.
We always fear about the star bowler of the opposition but end up giving wickets to one of the lesser bowlers. I wouldn't be surprised if suddenly Andre Russel or Marlon Samuels becomes our chief tormentor with the ball.

As far as the pitch is concerned the choice is simple! We have to make a pitch in a way that enables us to take 20 wickets. That is currently impossible with our pace bowling resources alone so fast seaming tracks won't do the job. So the only other option is make a test pitch that provides assistance to our spinners and hope we win the toss and bat.

Spin, spin, spin. Thats all what we seem to rely on these days.

Is Gayle playing in all formats? If he is then its going to be a long day... i can just picture what will happen. Shafiul bowling with the new ball to Gayle in tests and could quite possibly go for 36 runs in one over.

Deep mid-wicket, square leg, long off and long on from the 1st over?
