Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has secured the service of Tamim Iqbal including several prominent overseas cricketers for Sri Lanka Premier League T20 (SLPL) which will get underway from July 19. Was hoping to see few more Bangladeshis though. Nice to see Kevin O'Brien in the list

Shakib will be busy with County during that time. That is why he is not able to play, i guess. Otherwise, he would have been picked too for sure !

Now, i do not expect Tamim to get the same treatment that Mashrafe and Shakib got from IPL snobs.

Thanks for the news Naimul_Hd! I'm positive that Tamim will get a bid. It will be a good experience for him and is much better then sitting around at home. It should shake the rust off him before we play some important tours.

I'd love to see him standing next to Arjuna and gauge who has the bigger bhur'hi.

PLEASE NO more of these T20 BullS*its. I hope BD players finally understand that they are going to be sidelined in these crappy tournament. Besides we have the Zim tour coming up. BCB should make its own T20 franchise league. If lanka with 1/3 of BD's GDP can support such a league y cant we?

The maximum salary cap for this season is 35000$ ( or 30000)
if there was a T20 league in BD he would get much more
neverthless could be a good experience he needs some practice

Bangladesh will leave for Zimbabwe on July 18, so I don't see any chance of Tamim playing there

Sri Lanka's GDP is almost double of Bangladesh. Not one third :P

I strongly doubt whether Tamim or any other National player will be allowed to play - or even be able to go.

I have no idea where this 'report' originates but with a BD tour to Zimbabwe LEAVING towards the middle to end of July, national training camps preparing the players for Test matches before that, and fitness regimes being implemented from June 1st by Grant Luden, it's just a non-starter, IMO.

Can you imagine any player getting injured at a 'made up' SLCT20 before the biggest 7 months in BD cricket with 5 series (Test and ODIs) being planned against Zim, WI, Eng, Pak and SL?

However, with the ZIM series as a priority in less than 40 odd days, you can work it out for yourself.

Yeah, the last time we played a T20 was the loss to Ireland in the WC.

FTP (Future Tours Program) are discussing things with all boards concerned. As we know, many things change but there are 5 mini series planned (we cannot expect more for BD than modest series at this stage) - 4 in BD and the one in Zim.

awww, poor tamim! the exposure would have done him a world of good!!! he's known to be an aggressive player but hasn't really had the chance to show off his skills in a t20 match. this would have been a good test and platform for him

Ian,
I doubt most of those series would take place. They can play Zim without Tamim, the ODIs that is.
