Default BanglaCricket XI - Specialist Spinner

Mother Thread: http://www.banglacricket.com/alochon...=1#post1516108

Who should be the specialist spinner for Bangladesh in ODI's?

For those of you who might be a bit confused a specialist spinner is in the team primarily to bowl (e.g. Razzak, Sunny, Shuvo etc.).

This exludes players such as Shakib, Mahmudullah, Nasir etc.

Make a selection from the poll above. The poll expires in 6 days.

wouldn't sabbir rahman be their for an allrounder spot or a batting spot? didn't think he was ever classed in the specialist spinner category....nur hossain is someone you missed and also i think mahmudul hasan. i will mention shaker ahmed, i know he hasn't bowled much lately but he was a terrific prospect a year ago.

being a one-dayer i'm going to have to think about this, elias would be my pick for a test XI but for one-dayers? i'm not really sure.

Yeah Sabbir is a low order batsmen but i classed him in the specialist category.

Nur Hossain & Co are in the 'other' option in the poll. I try to not add too many names to the poll because the poll will start to look messy.

I just put the obvious choices (ie Razzak, Elias, Arafat etc)

Razzak has impressed me in terms of choking the opposition. He might have that dodgy ball down leg side but i think he adds experience to the bowling department.

Razzak for ODI's.
Enamul/Elias for Tests.
Elias/Razzak/Arafat/Enamul for T20's

how come you put sabbir as a specialist spinner when he's a lower order bat?

one-dayers i reckon is the toughest format to pick the specialist spinner because for me elias easily gets the test spot atm and for t20s it's between elias and arafat unless you want someone more capable with the bat and then you'd be looking at someone lie mahmudul hasan or shuvo otherwise you're venturing into the spin allrounders who are more batsmen than bowlers (sabbir, naeem etc).

I'm really torn now. I voted for 2 pacers and 2 spinners, and so in that way I could have included both Razzak and Sunny. Very rarely do we have 3 pacers all clicking in one game. There always has to be this one guy faring poorly, sometimes 2. So having two pacers would be more logical. But since that's not what the people voted for, and we now only have one spinner in the team; I have to give the sole spot to Sunny. He is as good as Razzak, and will be better than him with more games under his belt. That's what I believe. I'm voting for Sunny.

In T20 and ODI's it has to be Razzak

It Test it should be Sunny or Enamul Jnr. Razzak shouldnt play in tests.

I'm going with Arafat Sunny. Seemed to be just fine, in the recent BPL. Lala(Razzak) is our main bowler. But at times, he is very expensive. Arafat can also turn the bowl.
So, Arafat is a better option to me. But I hope Emanul gets some chance to prove himself.

Razzak leads by a mere one vote. Anyones vote will make a huge different to the outcome.

Honestly i think Razzak did well in the Asia Cup so he should still be in the ODI team. Elias should be in the test team. I think this will balance out teams so that both bowlers can focus on particular formats which will be beneficial to the team.

i finally voted for sunny. the reason i voted for sunny is because razzak has been declining over the last few years and he;s still decent, did fine in the asia cup but for the last few years i've thought we should explore the other spinner options because he has been declining and sunny has done well with the limited chances he's had with the national team so i think he should be the pick right now. we gave shuvo his chance and he didn't work out so well.

i know that's why even after playing like 15 or more ODIs he's now nowhere near the team, if he was any good at the higher level he'd still be on the fringes fighting for a spot. the thing is he's one of the best performing spinners we have. enamul haque hasn't been that good either, these are some of our best performing spinners domestically and internationally they aren't up to the mark yet people think our pacer depth is poor, the spinner depth isn't that great either. we have a few bright spots a couple of players who are ready right now and some prospects who are on their way. shakib, razzak and elias being the ready ones in certain formats, and players like nasir, nur, shaker (if he's evens till bowling), mahmudul etc up and coming. i know we have some domestic performers like sajib and samad etc but shuvo and enamul have shown us that just pulling in great domestic performance doesn't always mean our spinners are up to the mark.

In all honesty the quality of Bangladeshi players playing in the Bangladesh domestic leagues arent as great. There arent a great amount of players who could slot into the national team and do well. Thats the worrying thing.

Hopefully we will have a lot of capable youngsters coming thru the ranks.

if only BD could find a sunil narine....actually we'll wait on a verdict for narine, he's quite similar to mendis and look how the tides have turned in that story....

also something to thinka bout is who would compliment our attack the best, who would slot in and make it the best it can be? clearly it's between razzak and elias right now.

I know I've been tough on Razzak for his 1 leg side delivery per over but to his credit, he did very well in the Asia Cup and outbowled Shakib which is very tough to do. Don't forget, because of his bowling in the India game where everyone else was having a tough time controlling the Indian batsmen, he tied them down really well and then got the wicket of Kohli's which gave our batsmen a chance.

Also he's a very experienced player which we really lack in our bowling department. So I think he should be continued with in T20I's and ODI's but should really stay as far away as possible from Test matches since his bowling doesn't suit Tests at all. The problem I have with Elias is that he tends to be an expensive bowler since his bowling is loopy. I would still keep him in as the back up to Razzak for T20I's and ODIs. For Tests, however, I would have Elias as my 1st choice spinner. I see him being the Rangana Herath of our bowling attack in Tests. My backup for Elias would be Enamul Haque for Tests since he's done very well in domestics and still believe he has a lot to offer to BD cricket. Enamul should be the backup to Razzak and Elias for both T20I's and ODI's.

I also believe that Arafat and Sajib need to be developed as well. I would have them be in my A team and continue to develop them. They were very impressive in the BPL and should come in if Razzak and Elias start to struggle.

we dont have good cricket coaches at juniour level we dont even have any cricket fields in dhaka to play proper cricket how much can you learn from playing street cricket you need to practice techniques and fitness and you need to play with a real cricket ball as well . Our first class cricket is picnic because we dont have cricket development only thing we rely on is BKSP (which was developed by ERSHAD)
apart from that how many cricket academies are there we dont have school level cricket coaching like in sri lanka or india.
there maybe more talented players outside BKSP but we are not sure about it if we had more academies we could have produced more shakibs . The board does not care
if you go and try to play in premier league dhaka from 1st division you need pay money to get chance or you need connections some politics are there even if you get chance they will use you as 12th man i know many players who are not given chance as well .How will you solve that issue ???

Biggest issue in Bangladesh Cricket. I absolutely hate dirty politics. Im fed up with it. Reading articles about how Bangladesh could be one of the top 10 richest countries only if there was good management in the country. 50% of Bangladesh in poverty but millions ride in fancy cars and eat at KFC everyday.

Fed up. Absoltely fed up
