Default Bangladesh (and Zimbabwe) gets shafted in the preliminary FTP plan

The lines have been drawn and we are on the wrong side of the track:

More Tests for major countries in FTP draft

The draft of the Future Tour Programme (FTP) for 2012 to 2020 has a clear division among the Test playing countries, with England, Australia and India scheduled to play the most Tests, followed by Sri Lanka and South Africa. The FTP is to be finalised at the ICC's annual conference in Hong Kong next week.

A working draft of the programme, which is available with ESPNcricinfo, contains an official window in September for the Champions League Twenty20 each year, and also leaves space for an unofficial IPL window in April and May, making it possible for players from most nations to participate in the league.

According to the draft of the FTP, India will not host Bangladesh or Zimbabwe for either Tests or ODIs until 2020. India have not hosted Bangladesh in a bilateral series despite them getting Test status in 2000.

The FTP divisions in Test cricket are clear: England will play 99 matches over the next eight years, Australia 92, and India 90. Sri Lanka and South Africa are at the next level, with 76 and 74 Tests scheduled. They are followed by West Indies and New Zealand, with 66 Tests each, and Pakistan with 65. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe bring up the rear with 42 and 41 matches. These are draft options, though, and the final numbers could be different.

Apart from England and Australia playing five-Test Ashes, India's tours to England in 2014 and 2018 will also contain five Tests. No other team will be involved in five-Test contests. All of India's other bilateral series are between two and four Tests. West Indies and Sri Lanka, however, have nothing longer than three-Test series, while Bangladesh and Zimbabwe are limited to two.

The one-day internationals are more evenly distributed. India will play the most with 166, 89 of which are away games. Zimbabwe have the fewest, 64, of which 37 are at home. All other countries will play between 100 and 160 games. The Twenty20 format has the fewest games, with most teams scheduled to play between 30 and 55 matches. Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, however, have just 11 each.

India have a comfortable window for the IPL in most years but in 2014 they are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs in May, and then start a five-Test series in England in the second week of June, leaving a three-week gap for the seven-week tournament.

England are the only country without a clear IPL window for most of the years, potentially continuing the trend of their players rarely featuring in the tournament. Australia have made space in their calendar to allow their players to take part, while New Zealand are a mixed bag, with tours scheduled in some years and a gap in others. West Indies have series that potentially clash with the IPL as May and June are part of their home season.

A two-week window has been cleared for the Champions League in September, though, so that teams can pick their best XIs.

Among other details in the draft of the FTP, Pakistan are scheduled to tour India in March-April 2013 but beyond that particulars of series between the two countries are vague, with neither the host nation nor the number of games specified in the programme. There will also be two Ashes series in 2013 - one during the English summer and the other in Australia at the end of the year - in order to avoid a clash with the 2015 World Cup.

This will show how good BCB is. They can (if they have the intention which I doubt) increase the number with talking to the individual boards. All they will do is gripe and moan.

I like it in one sense. If we win the first test of any series, wow!! We draw a series automatically and have a greater chance to win the series. What more a cricket fan (who's team do not have a single 40 average test cricketer in the team) want?

Merely 5 tests per year over 8 years ? and only 11 T20s over 8 years ? You must be kidding me !

Well, what else we (Bangladesh) can expect from this moneygrubber org (ICC).

ICC

Giving Bangladesh test status when it clearly didn't deserve it, now denying it an opportunity to play against the best teams because it isn't economically attractive.

Starting to rival FIFA for incompetence.

Default Rise up for Glory!

This seems a suppression to me! And outcome of suppression is always loud. I don't mind being suppressed. I agree with Tiger's eye on the following: we have to earn it.

Market creation, both in terms of quality and quantity is not sole responsibility of players and BCB. We all have something to contribute. Lets just not get disheartened by this. Lets take it as a motivational factor to grow. Trust me, we can contribute. All our words will be heard, if we make proper platform for us. Writing on a forum would not do much. By stating that, I am not suggesting another 'Doura Bagh Ailo' type platform. I am suggesting a constructive platform where we can work for the development of cricket in Bangladesh. Yes of course, in affiliation with BCB.

I believe, by 2020, we will make them reschedule their fixtures. Market will demand for Bangladesh to play more. For both, qualitative and quantitative reasons! I propose a thread, where we talk constructive, where we really plan something big. We develop ideas to develop cricket and we implement that. It has to be a bottom up approach. We all complain about BCB, why don't we create successful models (since we are cricket enthusiast) which BCB can adopt in their development program. Why don't we form advocacy group to help build negotiation skill? Why complaining all the time? Why following everything, that 'shada chamras' recommend us! We are good enough to understand our betterment. Trust me, Bangladesh will be heard, one day. The time we spend 'galifying' BCB over here, we should utilize it to do something impactful. We have around 3800 members. Lets just not stay as a community in internet, lets do community work! Things will start changing, seriously!

P.S. the reason, I'm writing this because I feel insulted by the article above. I just can't accept the suppression in everything: politically, economically even in sports. We need to rise up for glory. And it is only possible, if a collective effort from everyone is in place. Regards.

There you go! Improvement is a collective effort. It can't be achieved by players and BCB and Coach only. Responsible fans are required to contribute as well. Just like in a democratic system, with government and public servants, general people needs to contribute. Lets contribute! Lets work beyond a community. Lets do some community work.

Guys there will be more tests. Aussies, Kiwis, Pakis have a total 6-7 tests overdue which was supposed to take last year and this year. And I am pretty sure if we can beat kiwis again they will cry and demand for a re tour! Plus sounds like we will have a pretty decent number of ODI as teams love to play short series against us. It gives them chance to earn some points plus experiment some new players. We have to take those advantage. All we need is 1-2 series wins against top 5 and the whole FTP Is set to get messed up. Also as Zim doesnt have much tours or an enhanced Domestic, there will be more tours between us and them every year.
BCB needs good planning here. They need to strengthen Domestic and get the key players involved to toughen up the competition. They can also get plenty of time for BPL.

To be honest, can't really be that upset about it. In order to get respect, we have to win more matches. No way around that. We can complain all we want about ICC wanting cricket to be elitist or blame BCCI but we really haven't made a strong case. We still have only 3 test wins and still struggle to win ODIs against the top teams. In order to get more matches, we have to win more and I'm confident we'll win more often. Winning more test matches will definitely get us more respect. So that's why our test matches against Zimbabwe, West Indies and Pakistan are very crucial.

Last summer in England, only tests involving Bangladesh went the full 5 days. Aus vs Pakistan and Pakistan vs England did not. Just when we were starting to be an attractive team with marketable players this happens. Disheartening.

This really means Loitta Kamal, Enayet, Mansur & Co have to earn their no-doubt-non-trivial pay-checks! They'll have to work the bilateral tours. There are still windows in the calendar and those have to plugged. Saffers, Sri Lanka, Windies are all attractive options. If security in Pakistan improves that country too. Whatever happens, now is the time for a charm-n-realpolitik offensive.

Saber bhai - if you are reading this, your country needs you. Please go make peace with afamoni. We can't afford to have our best cricket statesman on the bylines when our Test future is being nickel & dimed.

As mod: Stop solo India bashing. Australia & England are just culpable in this FTP. ICC is more like it's old name = Imperial Cricket Conference with those 3 the new emperors.

Default FTP 2012-2020 released: Bangladesh gets just 42 Tests

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/c...ry/520738.html

Summary:

We're only getting 42 Tests over the next 8 years, I guess its up to the BCB to arrange more 3-test tours with WI, NZ, and ZIM. By comparison, England will get 99 tests. I don't see anything wrong with Bangladesh getting just a 3-4 tours per calendar year, but in that case we need to get more 3-test series. If we only see 2 tests, then we should get 4-5 tours per year.

We are likely getting 100 ODIs over the next 8 years, compared to India who lead with 166.

I'm sure we'll end up adding a few fixtures here and there, but we might lose some too.
