What more did you guys expect from Kapali, Farhad, Nazmul and Mahmudullah? Among the real bowlers, Razzak and Shakib did what was expected of them (although a couple of more wickets would have been nice). Mashrafe, on the other hand, has a lot of work to do if he's going to go back to even a fraction of his old self.

Bowlers..

Its time we use the same standard reserved for batsmen towards the bowlers. They have been around a long time now and none are rookies or novices. Most have over 50 intl's under their belt, yet consistently they stray too often, bowl the wrong one day length and continue to bleed run. There is no point harping about the missing 20 overs from Rafiq and Rasel. They are not here. The rest, simply are not grabbing the opportunity presented to them to crack in the team as regulars. Blaming the Coach or the lack of bowling coach is getting a bit silly. One day bowling is simple if you are disciplined and it doesn't change much even if you bring a new coach with new innovation tactics. The basics remain the same, more so, when we don't have wkt taking bowlers. You choke the runs and pry wkt away in the process with fielders backing you hundred percent.

Hopefully Mashrafee is holding back ....big time ! He's just keeping himself in shape, and not losing his rhythm by acquiring rust.

Same thing with Razzaq...just taking it easy.
Sakib will be handsful when the real deal arrives. The fact that he scored today, is more of the relief.

Rakib needs another big one.

Tamim is just tierd of scoring. Let him hold back some anger/poise for the real deal.

Zunaid did really well today. He scored as much as the great Tamim. He still gets a hard kick on the back.

A big score by Ash may have been good, but we would rather have Eid with the Australians.

AgaiNST aUSTRALIA...2 score over 250, and one competitive game, one decent game, and one big loss..

The third warm-up match again showed how good a batting track the Gardens Oval has as the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) chased Bangladesh's 270 with 11 balls and five wickets to spare here yesterday.

The morning, unlike the past few days, was breezy and a tad cloudy. Whatever encouragement the bowlers have on this pitch is usually limited to the first five or six overs and AIS skipper Moises Henriques had no hesitation in putting Bangladesh in on winning the toss.

The Tigers had left out Mehrab Hossain, Shahadat Hossain and Dollar Mahmud from this game and Zunaed Siddiqui opened with Tamim Iqbal. Tamim was the first to go caught behind after going hard at a ball out side off and Zunaed got a leading edge when he tried to flick a full toss and was caught at cover.

Bangladesh were 2/5 inside four overs before Alok Kapali (38), Shakib Al Hasan (67) and Rokibul Hassan (51 not out) ensured a decent total.

The batsmen again all looked good as long as they were at the crease but momentary loss in concentration and some injudicious shot-selection brought about the downfall of captain Mohammad Ashraful (21), Kapali and Shakib. Ashraful skied an attempted pull, Alok went for a wild swing and Shakib, who orchestrated the Bangladesh recovery with a 99-run partnership for the 5th wicket Rokibul danced out against spin and was stumped.

Shakib had swept, cut and used his feet impeccably until his dismissal.

Bangladesh shuffled the batting line in a bid to give the top-order batters more time in the middle. Kapali had gone in at four while Shakib came before Roqibul. Although the run rate was always over impressive four wickets for 41 runs inside the last 10 overs upset the momentum before number ten Forhad Reza's 14-ball 22 gave sheen to the finish.

Rokibul's innings was a study in concentration but he was forced to dig in rather than going for his shots in the closing overs as he ran out of partners.

The target was only going to be challenging if the AIS had lost early wickets. That did not happen as the bowlers could not keep sustained pressure.

Opener Usman Khawaja (94) and Henriques (82), who promoted himself to number three, added 127 and by the time Khawaja was dismissed the AIS already had 206 on the board.

There was however a last ditch fight from the Bangladesh bowlers but AIS always had the wickets in hand. Shakib finished his 10 overs giving away just 34 and took two wickets while Abdur Razzak showed he was getting close to his best with figures of (10-0-38-1).

Mashrafe Bin Mortaza toiled away without luck but was the best among the Tigers paceman.

Bangladesh and AIS meet for the last time on Monday at the same venue.

honestly i guess our best option is to prepare at least 3 seamers on form and two spinners...Mahmudullah is not the best option to bowl. the only two regular spinners that can seriously give us ten overs is Abdur Razzak And Shakib. Kapali i guess he will be very expensive in the ODI series, maybe at the expense of a wicket or not but i really don't want to see himself humiliated so i am not really counting on him to see him bowl much.

Reza,i am happy to see himself improve with the bat..maybe if we play with 4 seamers he will fill in part time...

so i want more experimentation next match. i think we will end up with a combo something like this in the ODI series:

Like it or not, since nobody really appreciates Mehrab jr. (beides me, anyways), and Junaed has only two chances left to really make the squad, Ashraful will end up opening and to effectively push the australlians we need 3-4 seamers at their best with effective spin attack.

On the flip side Had he played fast and gotten out Bd wouldn't have reached 250. His steady bating allowed us to bat the full 50 and accelerate the rate at the death.
