Default Do our cricketers need a brain transplant?

Now I realize what our problem has been so far.

Its not lack of skills or practice, it has always been lack of intellect. What does everyone think, does the real problem lie with our intelligence or is it something else.

What are you smoking? You question about our intellect? Really??
Ask Obama to run Bangladesh - he would die from heart attack in first few hours!

It's not about practice?
How many four day match our kids played lately?
How many Tests they played lately?

And what about team selections??
Shahadat, really?
Shamshur, really?? My nice is a better player than him, period.

And TI = chcchu is a good freaking corrupt BCB goon who keep selecting him even he when he doesn't know how to hold a cricket bat anymore!!

I'd rather "Why do we suck?" thread were bumped instead of a new thread, and I know it's natural to feel like jumping off a cliff when you've witnessed our first innings batting, but I'd have to say there's no excuse for this kind of performance. For any other test playing country I'd understand. But this is Zimbabwe we're talking about - a country that can't provide a quarter of the facilities afforded by our cricketers, whose players have less first class match experience than we do, and they're playing in our friggin conditions for crying out loud...not to confuse with frigid conditions.

The difference between a Tamim, a Shamsur, a Nazimuddin or even a Anamul (up until now in tests) is unish bish at best. I admit I only watched two wickets go down, Mominul and Shakib but the way they threw away their wickets made me want to puke. Getting beaten by teams like Afghanistan, Hong Kong and Zim at home has more to do with mental issues than anything else.

MHRAM's post is packaged in a harsh way-at least the thread title :P

But his core argument deserves thought.

Our cricketing system is designed to prioritize skill and talent over intellect, attitude and values. We see a guy like Rubel Hossain who has pace and bounce and we fast track him ahead of 99 other trialists. Whereas someone like Nazmul Hossain has very little chance of making it as he doesnt appear as skilled or quick.

At some point (if not already) it ll be a big problem for BCB. The dressing room needs to have more Aminul Islam's, Naimur Rahman's, Khaled Mashuds, Khaled Mahmuds, Mohammad Rafique's. None of these guys may even come close to our current lot in terms of technical ability, but these guys were more intelligent, driven, gutsy.

Its shocking but beyond Mashrafe, Shakib and Mushfiq there is no other captain material in the squad. Maybe Mominul, Anamul in future, but other than that no. And even at that i wont called Mashrafe and Mushfiq the best tacticians. Shakib despite his shrewd brain can be reckless which is never good for youngsters.

Guys I was just having a little fun. Obviously I wasn't being serious about the brain transplant thing

But like Jeesh bro above mentioned, a major part of our problem is the lack of intellect amidst the cricketers and those running the sport throughout the country. We have players with talent but they are basically braindead. There is no one whom we can call a "smart-thinking" cricketer not even shakib these days who is scratching something else these days rather than his head.

i think its more important for all Bangladeshi supporters to receive eye transplants. Supporters have been suffering way too long watching BD underperform.

now now that does not need a poll because everyone is more than sure that they do. It's like asking if asking if laden was a humanitarian or terrorist

There is "false" and there is "truth".

This falls under "absolute truth". Took you so long to realize.

Some needs brain transplant, some needs body transplant, and rest need both.

Whoever made the decision to play sabbir at 5 and Mominul at 7 should need a brain transplant.

I can understand Shakib at 3 and Mush at 4. that was smart but making a finisher come in to stop a collapse?

Also Mushy should stop playing those scoops.

my bad. it was a reverse scoop. Not an ideal shot to play for a batsman of Mushy's class. I guess he could have executed it better but not the best choice of shots

Our players' mental fortitude actually improved lately I thought. Hathurasingha has done well, and the team has been visibly more confident after the first Test win. But there's still a long way to go of course.

But in this game, the absurd multiple changes in the batting order is to blame more.
