Default Record Chase Part Deux: I believe ... Masri believes

We got them right where we want them. Lets get the job done this time. Two of our best batsmen are on a pair, there gonna come good. This pitch becomes much slower, much easier to bat on day 4 & 5. Lets take reverse sweeps out of the equation and try to get the target a bit lower.

If we get a target below 450, anything is possible.

I believe. If I have pledged to support Bangladesh Cricket Team, I might as well support and believe them. I dont care if we are not in the equation to win yet. We will make our own equation !

I believe.

I strongly believe in Mash, he can single handedly win us match. He has done his magic in batting, now its time for him to bowl them out.

Go get 'em TIGER!

They are already leading by 189 runs. We need to make them all out before another scoring another 200 runs. Not an easy task to do. I believe tomorrow Shahadat will take at least 4 wickets to stop srilnakans innings before 200. Shakib will do the rest inshallah. Mash will do the bonus.

We need to take wickets in the first session, to restrict SL to a reasonable score. Whatever the case we will have to chase a huge target... i think a draw is a more realistic target in this pitch...

despite the final 2-0 scoreline, we have gained quite a bit from this test series.

a few wickets from rajib and enam, even at the expense of 5ers for sakib or mash, will make things that much better.

SL will not declare without a 500+ lead, which means we have to bat starting on day 4...draw can't happen, but hopefully we can score 300+ in the 4th innings.

Well we cant let them declare. We gotta BOWL them out, before lead is bigger than 350.

we are not going to win. if we do, its a miracle.

this is not because we don't have the talent or the skills. but because we are raw.

look at our age, and our experience. in the last 15 months, tamim, junaid, raqib, got their test caps. what other test team has ppl that young and inexperienced?

add in enam and rahim who have just begun to cement places in the side. rajib has played a mere 21 tests - the same amount india plays in a single month (lol). mehrab is a newbie. asides from mash and ash, we don't have anyone with more than 25 caps or 2 years experience. and for most teams, guys come with thousands of first class runs and hundreds of first class wickets, and they struggle at test level. even against our team. so how will our players do given that the the majority of the FC career is at Test level?

for us, we have to get confidence like we did in mirpur. if SL gets 320, they will have a 500 run lead. and we must ensure a score of 300 minimum. anything more is a bonus. we cannot continue to rely on ashraful, though he needs to score as always.

if you continue to improve, and players play for themselves, team bangladesh will be better off, and we'll start winning matches.

Asaad Bhai

403/6

And that dream was ended by a lucky wicket

317/7 was achieved on a duplicate pitch, once a batsmen gets set on this pitch no stopping them cause it's slower than days 1 and 2 and it's much eaiser to pick up the turn.

First thing is first have to pick up some wickets and try to restrict them to a lower target. Every run counts so we have to pick up wickets.

Realistically, to win we have to get them out for under 150, which would give us around 300 to chase in the 4th innings. with the dual threat of mendis and murali to contend with, anything over that is virtually impossible for us. we lost the game with our inept first innings batting. lightning doesn't strike twice. i hope i am proved horribly wrong.

I am a believer too but i believe lighting does not strike twice in the same place.
We went beyond our fantasy to score 414 last time.
I wont bet on it this time around. Too much to ask from our players.
I'd be rather happy to see them putting another brave fight taking the match to the fifth day.

I'd loved to be proved wrong, but at this point, dreaming to win is too much even for my fantasy.

Off topic,

In Bangladesh team Shahadat is a firm believer of " lighting does strike twice in the same place" theory. After Samaraweera dragged on a short piched delivery on to his stumps in the first innings, Shahadat relentlessly bowled short deliveries hoping for a repeat, but almost every delivery went to the ropes.
