Default 10 teams world up now a reality

I think this is sad. The associates needs to be exposed more, not less. It reduces the chances of upsets as well.

at least, Bangladesh do not need to play qualifying games with Associates to qualify for next WC.
But, sad news for Ireland & Netherlands for sure. Feel for them

Thats a step backward. Looks like they are planning to have a relegation process in place after 2019. My opinion is they should have done it now. Whats the point of waiting 12 years?

T20 isn't same as ODI. Increasing T20 to 16 isn't good enough for cricket globalization. Its another matter if BCCI is scared of Ireland and Netherlands, in which case I understand

Bangladesh Should regularly send their A team to play associates like Kenya, netherlands, afghans and ireland .....

our A team should be competitive with them while our main team continue improving towards the top

Most of the cricket boards, especially the powerful ones, do not want to spread cricket. They miss the basic marketing strategy for their own petty causes of controlling the ICC.

Football world cup with 32 teams can finish the competition within a month; but the ICC takes one and a half months for a 12/14 teams competition (the length of the match does not affect the schedule that much), not mentioning the IPL occupying two months in a calendar year. There is another basic difference with football. In football, both strong and weak teams get the opportunity to play during the qualifier stage, while in cricket, the so-called G8 are untouchables. So, weaker teams never get any chance to play against them.

This way, the quality of cricket will never improve around the globe and cricket will never be a profession bar for a minority group of players. Even the money an IPL player gets is nothing compared to what a mediocre club footballer gets.

The only team outside the test arena that cries for a place in the world cup is Ireland. No other team really matches the likes of Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, let alone the big guns. Ideally it should have been of 11 teams, I am sure if the associates create waves during the 4 year period, it will be considered for the 2019 wc.

^ Associates do not get any chance to create the wave. Without playing against top sides on a regular basis, no associate can compete with them in a world cup.

Default New World Cup Plans by ICC

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/c...ry/509530.html

After the 2019 event, a relegation and promotion system will be introduced to the newly conceptualised ODI league. That will give those teams hope to qualify for future World Cups. But the 2015 World Cup will be played only by the ten full members.

What a shame for the non-test playing members. If Ireland can only play T20 WC on an international level in a major competition, what is the motivation for their star players to not pursue a chance to play for England?

This blows. Why not do do a relegation right now? They are going to wait 8 years? By then for all we know cricket in Ireland and Netherlands just might die. They are on the rise right now we need to help them. Pushing them aside for 8 years is not going to help them at all. Not to mention Afghanistan won't be able to get their chance for another 8 years.

right, the world champion team is scared of ireland ! sheer genius !
what makes you think it is BCCI that is scared and not ECB and CA ? those two boards have historically been the most vocal opponents of allowing other teams. england lost to ireland
and their player supply line would dry up if ireland makes it in the big league.

Stages getting set to weed out the weaker teams...sad sad...that's why cricket won't be popular like soccer...on the other hand this is the time our cricket authority really need to do something to revive our cricket to stay competitive, they are always slow and reacts after the incidence happens...I hope they won't wait till 2019 to take actions!!!

This is outright the wrong decision by ICC. And they think that they will bring more audience for World cup by limiting the countries? Ireland did beat England, Canada almost did win against Pakistan, Netherlands did take 5 wickets of India and it was not too long ago that Kenya was in the semi-finals..For heaven's sake, its only 10 countries vs. 14 countries. Which other World Cup consists of this few countries? (Please don't mention the USA games of baseball, Football, Ninja, Strongest Man or Gladiator series!!)

It's not BCCI. Its CA who doesn't want any associates in 2015. BCCI has nothing to do with it.

I think CA didn't allow any associates to take part in 1992 WC as well.
