Being a MP in BD does not mean he/she cant go abroad . All the BCB chiefs in past were MPs and also served BCB at the same time with no conflict of interest. And in Mash's case, He will only be a cricketer for the next few months only and after that he has ample time to focus on Narail Bashi.

And serving the national team is a national duty. So keeping politics aside for now was the right thing Mash did imho. After the series is over, he will have 20 something days to go his voters and make bonding. He has time

bhai apni ektu beshi bujhen just like that other kid in the forum. Where is anyone saying that? That is a good article breakdown of cashflow of MP. Tobefair didn't paste the 4 crore annual ammount given either for whatever.

Obviously ppl run for the power - and with that power there are things you will get - business opportunities you get ahead of your competition - etc etc is where most ppl can build wealth. It's a discussion of money influx of politician of BD. It can be very lucrative. Hardly anyone is running who is not hungry for power and a piece of of the pie. "helping" people comes as the by product. He is not helping - that's a wrong speech - it's a job position to serve ppl and in exchange u are given priviledges that is not for everyone else.

btw it is still possible he will not win. Hopefully it's a fair election. There will always be a doubt when you are running via a party Bangladeshis take their votes seriously. I think any other cricketer would lose but this guy actually has a good chance in my opinion or atleasat in how i would vote.

Thats my question too. Whether there Will there be a fair election or not. But Mash will most likely win in a fair election too. But my concern is how he will handle all the goons and thieves and the greed of earning black money. Will he become corrupted like everyone else or will he set an example

রাজনীতিতে নামার ব্যাপারে মাশরাফির মূল যুক্তি দেশের জন্য কাজ করা। এর পাল্টা প্রশ্ন হিসেবে তাঁকে প্রশ্ন করা হয়, দেশের মানুষের জন্য কাজ তো তিনি এমনিতেই করছিলেন। রাজনীতিতে নামা-না নামা এতে কতটা পার্থক্য তৈরি হবে? জবাবে পাল্টা প্রশ্ন দিয়ে মাশরাফি বলেন, ‘আমার ফাউন্ডেশনে কী কী কাজ হয়েছে বলতে পারবেন?’ প্রশ্নকর্তা কিছু কাজের কথা উল্লেখ করতেই মাশরাফি ব্যাখ্যা দিলেন, ‘একটাও কিন্তু ঠিক হয়নি। আমি রাস্তা কিন্তু করতে পারিনি। এটাই দেখেন, সবকিছু সবার কাছে পরিষ্কার না কিন্তু। ফাউন্ডেশন করে এটাই বুঝছি। অনেক কিছু করেছি কিন্তু মানুষ জানে না। নড়াইলেরই অনেকে কিছুই জানেন না। এটা সত্যি কথা। যেটা আমি বললাম, হ্যাঁ, আমি করার চেষ্টা করেছি। আমার জায়গা থেকে। যে সুযোগটা আমাকে প্রধানমন্ত্রী দিয়েছেন আরেকটু বড় পরিসরে করার, সে জন্যই।’

মাশরাফির বেশির ভাগ কথায় উঠে এসেছে জনমানুষের উন্নয়ন। পাল্টা প্রশ্ন এসেছে, সংসদ সদস্যের কাজ তো আইন প্রণয়ন করা, এলাকার উন্নয়ন করেন তো সেখানকার জনপ্রতিনিধিরা? উদাহরণ হিসেবে ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ সদস্যদের কথাও বলা হয়। মাশরাফির জবাব, ‘আসলে, আইন প্রণয়ন করাই তো জানি। এলাকার জনপ্রতিনিধিদের কাজ উন্নয়ন করা অবশ্যই। আমি দেখেছি এ পর্যায়ে (সাংসদ) থেকে অনেক সাহায্য আসে, সরকারিভাবে অনেক সহযোগিতা আসে, এখান থেকে যাওয়ার পরে সেগুলো ঠিকভাবে বণ্টন করারও একটা ব্যাপার থেকে যায়। আমি চেষ্টা করব জিনিসগুলো ঠিকভাবে করার।’

সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এরপর উঠে এল নির্বাচনে লড়াইয়ের প্রসঙ্গ। মাশরাফি উন্নয়ন করতে চান, নির্বাচনে তাঁর প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীরও তো একই চাওয়া। মাশরাফি তাহলে সেই প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীর চেয়ে কোন দিক দিয়ে ভালো? মাশরাফির সোজা জবাব, ‘আমি তো এ কথা বলিনি একবারও।’ সংবাদকর্মীটি তখন বুঝিয়ে বললেন, না আপনি যখন ভোট চাইতে যাবেন তখন তো আপনাকে এ কথা বলতে হবে? অধিনায়কও পাল্টা বললেন, ‘আমি তো একবারের জন্যই বলি নাই আমি উনার (নির্বাচনে প্রতিপক্ষ) থেকে ভালো।’
বাংলাদেশের ওয়ানডে অধিনায়ককে মুদ্রার উল্টোপিঠও দেখানো হয়। নির্বাচনে জিতলে মানুষের উন্নয়ন করাটা মাশরাফির জন্য সহজ হবে। কিন্তু জিততে না পারলে? দল যদি ক্ষমতায় না আসে? তখন মাশরাফির রাজনৈতিক ভবিষ্যৎ কী? এমনিতে বাংলাদেশের রাজনৈতিক সংস্কৃতি প্রতিহিংসার। মামলা, হয়রানি নিত্য-নৈমিত্তিক ব্যাপার। এ ধরনের পরিস্থিতির উদ্ভব হলে কী করবেন-এই প্রশ্নও করা হয় সংবাদ সম্মেলনে। মাশরাফির জবাব, ‘কাল আপনার জীবনে কী হবে সেটা আপনি জানেন না, আমার জীবনে কি ঘটবে সেটাও আমি জানি না। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ হচ্ছে, আমি পরিষ্কার মন নিয়ে যাচ্ছি কি না। আমি শুধু আমাকেই নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারি, এর বাইরে কোন কিছু আমি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারব না। আমি পুরো পরিষ্কার মনে আছি, আর আমি এখন শুধু এটাই ভাবছি। আর যেটা বললাম, কালকে আমার কী হবে সেটা আমি নিজেই জানি না। এত কিছু ভাবার সুযোগও নাই এখন আর।’

Mashrafe dodged the last question here - he was unprepared to say how he is better than his political opponent.

Mashrafe making speeches and asking for vote - difficult to imagine this scene given the type of personality we have seen thus far. You have to be combative in nature to be a politician, but Mashrafe so far has been a cool, relaxed, easy going, addabaj, big hearted, inspire from behind boss type guy.

খেলা শুরু হওয়ার পর এ নিয়ে আর প্রশ্ন না হোক যে প্রশ্নের উত্তর দেওয়ার এখন দিয়ে ফেলছি', খেলার মধ্যে রাজনীতি যেন না আসে, মাশরাফি বললেন, সে কারণেই এ সংবাদ সম্মেলনের আয়োজন। খেলার মানুষ রাজনীতিতে জড়িয়েছেন মাশরাফি চাইলেও কি আর এড়াতে পারবেন? অধিনায়কের ক্রিকেট আর রাজনীতি এখন হাত ধরাধরি করেই এগোব। না চাইলেও সময়-অসময়ে চলে আসবে এ প্রসঙ্গ। বাংলাদেশ ভালো করলেও আসবে, খারাপ করলেও আসবে। এমনকি ইংল্যান্ড বিশ্বকাপে টস করতে গিয়েও যদি ধারাভাষ্যকররা তাঁর কাছে রাজনৈতিক-বিষয়ক মন্তব্য জানতে চান, তাতেও অবাক হওয়ার কিছু থাকবে না!

এ বছর প্রথম আলোচিত আন্দোলনটা ছিল সরকারি চাকরিতে কোটা সংস্কার নিয়ে। পরেরটি ছিল নিরাপদ সড়কের দাবিতে শিক্ষার্থীদের স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত আন্দোলন। গত আগস্টে এই আন্দোলনের প্রেক্ষাপটে বাংলাদেশ টেস্ট ও টি-টোয়েন্টি অধিনায়ক সাকিব আল হাসান আন্দোলনরত শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশে ফেসবুকে পোস্ট পর্যন্ত দেন। অবশ্য তাঁর এই পোস্ট নিয়ে বেশ আলোচনা-সমালোচনা হয় ওই সময়।

বাংলাদেশ ওয়ানডে অধিনায়ক মাশরাফি অবশ্য দুটি আন্দোলনেই নীরব ছিলেন। এ নিয়ে সামাজিক যোগাযোগমাধ্যমে পোস্ট কিংবা কোথাও কোনো মন্তব্য করেননি। যেহেতু রাজনীতিতে নাম লিখিয়েছেন, গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দুটি আন্দোলনে তাঁর নীরব থাকার কারণ জানতে চাওয়া হলো আজ। মাশরাফি বললেন, 'এত গভীর রাজনীতি আমি কখনো করিনি, জানি না, বুঝিও না। আমার উদ্দেশ্য খুব সাধারণ, আমি মানুষের জন্য কিছু করে শান্তি পাই। আপনি যদি আমাকে একেবারেই গভীর রাজনীতিবিদ ভাবেন, সে পর্যায়ে এখনো যাইনি। আমাকে ও পর্যায়ের ভাবলে আমার সঙ্গে অবিচার হবে। আমার অভিজ্ঞতা একেবারে নতুন। হ্যাঁ, যেটা বলেছি অবশ্যই ভালো কাজ করতে চাই। সেটা সামনে হয়তো দেখা যাবে কতটা করতে পারি।'

Mashrafe has asserted again that joining politics will have no impact on his game, but I differ here. Joining politics and associated repercussions already affected him, and he was reported to be in sombre mood during excercise/fitness session. Men by nature are terrible in multitasking. As a local saying goes from my district - dui noukay pa dile panite porar sombhabonai besi, balance rekhe dariye thaka kothin. We shall see soon, but I hope he performs! We all know what happened to England before 2015 WC when Cook was not performing and they appointed a new captain on the eve of WC. Also in 2011 our WC performance was impacted when Shak took over at the last minute due to Mashrafe's injury.

Not sure what his district is facing but some of the above should apply and he should have opinions of all these subject matter. And how he plans to change anything for his district under the same administration last 1 decade ?

বিমানের জানালার পাশে বসে হাওয়া খেতে খেতে উগান্ডা যাচ্ছিলাম আর মোবাইল গুতাগুতি করছিলাম। হঠাৎ এই পোস্টটা আমার চোখে পড়ে। পোস্ট টা দেখে হাসির চোটে আমার মোবাইলটা পড়ে গেল। কিন্তু আমাকে তো হা হা দিতে হবে।জীবনের মায়া ভুলে লাফ দিলাম মোবাইল এর পিছে। ৫ মিনিট উড়ার পর উত্তর বিষুব রেখা বরাবর ৪৫ ডিগ্রি অক্ষাংশে ভূ-তাপীয় অঞ্চলে এসে মোবাইল এর নাগাল পাই। সাথে সাথে পোস্ট এ হা হা দিয়ে দিলাম। এখন শান্তি লাগতেছে। এখনো নিচের দিকে পড়তেছি। নিচে সাগর দেখা যাচ্ছে। সাগরের হাঙ্গর হা করে আছে আমাকে খাওয়ার জন্য। আমি মনে হয় আর বাঁচবো না, কিন্তু কোনো আফসোস নেই আমি পোস্টে হা হা দিতে পেরেছি।

I like these comments - it will be nice to see how he reacts to them. As a player when u hear negative comments, you can shut off social media and go about your business but as a politician you have to know what ppl who may vote for you is thinking.

TBF are you selectively pasting all the negative ones? I don't have FB but overall is he getting positive response or mostly negative? the top most liked comments for example. that can be an indication of how he will fare in a fair election.

I really think he should go to the field in addition to using social platform. He should use the social platform to show he is at the field taking things seriously instead of writing nonsense autobiography. this guy sounds like he is talking in the players dressing room and quiet frankly sounds dumb imo.

Election is end of the month and he is gonna update his FB status while playing ODI series against West Indies. Just RIDICULOUS and so disrespectful for the ppl who he wants vote from.

I do agree that during BNP era corruption was high, but do you think corruption is reduced or gone completely in last 10 years? I like to hear your opinion regarding this. Dont forget people like Yaba BODI has not been brought to justice and it is also sign of severe corruption. Also dont forget how our big hearted President pardoned murderers who are BAL activists. Is not it sign of corruption in your eyes? Or is it like only BAL murders have rights to be pardoned by President because of Shadinotar Chetana? NO I am not a BNP supporter, I am just showing you same thing happened in BAL era too which you could not see either you have been suffering from eye problems or you keep your eyes close like a crow....

Like I said in the other thread. No one is saintly in politics especially in the 3rd world countries. They are all corrupt. But facts dont change the fact under bnp bangladesh was even more corrupt and in the top 5, and was moving at a snail speed. AL is no saint, corrupt too. They are all corrupt. Its choosing the lesser of the corrupt, the better one who gets the job done faster.. Unfortunately... Unless some other parties come and finally a male PM comes into the scene. These two will go om for eternity!!!
