বড় ইনিংস খেলতে না পারলেও সেন্ট ভিনসেন্ট টেস্টের দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে শুরুটা ভালো করছিলেন ইমরুল কায়েস। সে কারণে সেন্ট লুসিয়া টেস্টে হয়তো আরেকটা সুযোগ পেতেন। তবে হঠাৎ অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ায় এখন আর সেটা হচ্ছে না।
বাংলাদেশ দল সূত্রে জানা গেছে, বাঁহাতি ব্যাটসম্যান ইমরুল কায়েস হঠাৎ করেই একধরনের চর্মরোগে আক্রান্ত হয়েছেন। সারা গায়ে ফুসকুড়ির মতো দেখা দিয়েছে। সেন্ট ভিনসেন্টে দুজন চিকিৎসক দেখানোর পরও অবস্থার তেমন কোনো উন্নতি হয়নি। সে কারণে প্রথম টেস্টের শেষ দিনে মাঠেও আসেননি ইমরুল। এ অবস্থায় টিম ম্যানেজমেন্ট তাঁকে দ্রুত সম্ভব দেশে পাঠিয়ে দেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বলে জানা গেছে।
কাল সকালে সেন্ট ভিনসেন্ট থেকে সেন্ট লুসিয়ায় পৌঁছেছে বাংলাদেশ দল। দলের সঙ্গে আছেন ইমরুলও। তবে আগামী শনিবার সেন্ট লুসিয়া টেস্ট শুরুর আগেই ইমরুলের ঢাকায় রওনা হয়ে যাওয়ার কথা। হাতে সময় কম বলে ইমরুলের বিকল্প হিসেবে নতুন কাউকে আনা হবে না দেশ থেকে।
