Default I want to know about a bangla word

Hello,

recently I talked to someone and uttered a word "Banoat". What does it mean? Is it a slang? I am pretty sure it is not a slang.

I think it means false. For example, ei kobor ta puropuri banoat.

If I get the actual word from the english, the the word I'm thinking is বানোয়াট, meaning falsified or made up, like a falisfied excuse for being absent.

Yes, Rubu is correct. It means made up, false info, forged info etc.

The one who makes false/fake stories/info. It is a soft slang.

I wouldn't say it refers to "someone", rather it is usually used as an adjective to a noun that holds some information:
বানোয়াট গল্প
বানোয়াট দলিল
বানোয়াট তথ্য
"এই কথাটা বানোয়াট"

But we cannot say:
"এই লোকটা বানোয়াট"
অথবা,
"এটা একটা বানোয়াট গাড়ী"

I also don't think it is soft slang. It might be insulting, but not slang.

ভুয়া is more common. And it applies to both objects and people.

Are you sure its banoat? Beacuse there is a gali starts with "Ban" and ends with "t"
