On one hand its good Shakib is being benched.

But on the other hand its embarrassing to see Nabi out-performing him in IPL. Heck even Rashid has been a better batsman than him in the IPL

Virat Kohli who is supposed to be the GOAT is also getting outperformed by many lesser names this season in IPL, it doesn't matter . What matters is what Shakib will do for Bangladesh in the near future

Rashid's batting average is 12 Shakib's is over 20 (But Rashid's strike rate is great 177, Shakib is around 122).

Shakib has not performed well with the bat in ipl because of lack of opportunities, e.g last year shr top oder were in tremendous form and then Manish Pandey consumed rest of deliveries

The only reason Shakib played IPL is because of his very dependable tidy four overs.

His batting was always poor and sometimes mediocre. Now that he is being outperformed in bowling by other bowlers, logically he is overlooked. This is good, because whenever Shak is overlooked, it charges him up, and when he comes back to national team, he will perform like a hungry tiger.

As for Kohli, even though his team has failed, as a player, he has always been a superb performer in IPL. His team has failed due to wrong team selection and hard luck.

Personally I am kind of happy that Sakib is not getting chance in the Hyderbad team. He is indeed one of our best player when his mind is in the game. He is by nature a great competitor. May be this (in IPL) will refuel his firepower and he will do something special in this world cup to prove a point.

Its a win win situation for me, as I care less about IPL.

RCB on their way to sixth straight loss

Some observations about Kohli captaincy from Cricinfo commentary:

Quote:
Oneflydown: "@Dikshya: Apart from the records of Kohli, I would rather tell that Virat won for India, when proxy DHONI was behind the stumps!!"
Quote:
Guruprasad S: "Enough of this 'wearing his heart on his sleeve' nonsense. Kohli just doesnt have the cool headedness to think in the heat of battle. Kohli's swearing at opponents and teammates, and his century celebrations, are some of the most unedifying sights in cricket. As for his success as team India captian, the Indian team is of the type 'my grandma could captain it'. "
Quote:
suddy: "Best captain inthis IPL is Ashwin. How he uses resources below par is extraordinary. Next is karthick"
Quote:
Akshat: "A good captain uses their resources to the best of their abilities. Do you think Dhoni complained when he had a weak bowling attack for most of his captaincy reign? No, he extracted as much as he could which resulted in winning the 2011 World Cup. Kohli needs to find a way to do the same"

not surprising. He's always been a hot headed manchild. Lately he tries to push this whole mature persona (no doubt suggested by his PR peeps), but when push comes to shove, the real kohli shows up. Dhoni was, is, and always will be India's best captain.

Starting to make sense why team india doesn't get rid of Dhoni. Still the mastermind behind the stumps, holding this man child super stars hand and feeding him.

Max,
Don't use up transfers. After 25th April, 1st May, many would leave. Congrats on taking the lead. I have been following you for a long time already. Great work.

Latest IPL observations:

Dhoni still remains one of the best finishers in the world. He is RUTHLESSLY COOL . What Dhoni did against RCB is what a true finisher does. Now compare that to our so called finisher Shabbir

Shane Watson still has it - what a menacing knock he unleased against KXIP. Even when he was failing, CSK was right to trust and back Watson

Gayle - Even at this age, he remains the universe boss of T20 cricket

ABD - Not sure what to say. Unbelievable consistency with unbelievable coolness

Rabada - superb bowler

Parthiv Patel - an immensely talented cricketer who never blossomed at the national level

age is just a number. dhoni proved over and over with his near 40 average CSK team

our selectors should learn that from dhoni

only in a country, where naeem, tushar ignored for age. naeem is not even that old
