~AB deVilliers Quits Test Captaincy Role, Faf Takes Over~
- with immediate effect.
Quote:
Commenting on his decision, De Villiers said: “The interests of the team must always outweigh the interests of any individual, including me. It was a fantastic honour for me to be asked to captain the Test side but I have missed two series and I am still in doubt for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. Following the squad’s outstanding performances in Australia, it is clearly in the greater interests of the team that Faf du Plessis should be confirmed as the permanent Test captain.

Faf is a more passionate captain, in the same category as a Darren Sammy. Good move by ABDV...
Mushfiqur should follow suit??

Touché,
But, the replacement for SA was obvious. Faf had a breakout series as stand-in captain, played one of his finest test innings in that series.
Is there anyone ready to take up the captaincy if the situation was the same for BD?

Right call made by Devilliers. Faf seemed to show the right kajones to be a leader of this fearful unit. He has the grit and determination to get respect from his troops. Mushfiq on the other hand is a disgrace when it comes to leadership.

Mature decision by Ab. Knows what's best for the team.
As for Mushy, his ego is too big to take a decision like that. His captaincy will only end if it is taken from him.

AB gave up his gloves and now captaincy for the sake of the team, it hurts just thinking about it

I guess all news in world cricket somehow ties back to Mushy.
Kohli scores a double century. Whereas our captain can't even score century. What a disgrace!
Jason Holder is such a tall captain. Whereas our captain is so short.
My toilet stopped flushing. I guess it's mushys fault too.
AB gave up captaincy coz he isn't fit and unsure about next series. While Faf won them an away series in Aus. So extremely similar situation to Bd.

ABDV started off as a batsman with that 'skunk' hairstyle...was a Jonty copycat, electric in the field.
I remember him as a bowler back in 2005-6??
Boucher was there all those years, so he had the time to work solely on his batting. Wonderful situation he was in, Abraham Benjamin deVillers.

As a captain its irrelevant
But as a WK it is, how many times have we heard a commentator say "A taller WK would have...."
