BDFlag How could we have won the Final match ?

It has been 2 days but I am still in shock. How on earth did we end up losing a match from moments of strong positions ?

Imrul, Mushfiq and Riyad should have taken responsibility and batted sensibly by taking singles and not attempting boundaries. There was no need for not one, but three run-outs!
Mashrafe should know how to play according to the situation rather than turning up to hit a few sixes and then go back to the dressing room.
Mehidy should have bowled well. Apu is horrible - does his balls even spin ?
Mash should have brought in Soumya for an over or two when India were building partnerships.
Mash should have also brought in fielders in the circle to avoid India taking easy singles and ultimately winning the match.

Should have scored at least 260 from that position. Brainless batting, biased decision against Liton are the contributing factors.

Could have should have will not change the reality but still

- MMM (Mushy, Riyad, Mithun) scoring 1 more runs each or one of them reaching double figure
- Imrul scoring 1 more run
- Rubel not conceding a 6 in his penultimate over
- Not half-hearted run by SS that led to his run out
- Mash taking a little more responsibility in batting
- A little better bowling from Naz Apu
- Mehidy not bowling down the leg
- Trying SS a few overs for bowling in the middle when spinners were expensive

I have said this before and I will say it again our seniors will take us through the group stages but if we get to a final, all of these guys will have stage fright. There is just too much mental baggage of losing close matches in their minds. We will need the juniors like Mustafiz, Liton etc to step up when the time comes. Otherwise I cannot explain what Mushy did in the match. He was in tremendous form and the platform was set for him. Even a 40-45 run from him would have allowed us to get to a competitive total. For us India is the most difficult team to beat. They play spin very well and they have many match winners. I hope someday we reach a final where it is not India as the opposition

I think we are in that same loup we were against Pak when we just could not beat them even being in good position but once we started beating Pak now we are beating them regularly.
WE just have to keep trying and pushing ourselves.

About this final match I think we lost it when Imrul,Mithun and more importantly Mushy and Ryad went out cheaply.
As some1 said earlier Mushy & Ryad are so accustomed to crisis situations that they could not take advantage of a strong plateform.
When we are in crisis situations the backs of Mushy and Ryad are against the wall and they are forced to put a high price on their wicket, in the finals it was different and so they failed.
I think similar reason why Tamim is such a good opener because he knows the other opener wont be scoring much, so he also takes time ( as we have seen in WI) to score a big innings.

If Sarkar had ran the first quicker, then he would have gotten the 2nd instead of a run-out. He knew he had to carry us to the 50th over and had to always run the first quick even if there wasn't a second. We could have put 5 to 6 more runs on the board and actually won the match.

If you are still asking 'Is life worth living?' after getting snubbed again and again and again like a jilted lover I have two words: "World Cup 2019 Champion".

Thank you.

Suddenly I know how Susan Lucci and Leonardo di Caprio felt.
