Default Help for rescued tiger cubs: Anyone going from BKK to DAC?

Received this urgent request from a friend. Can anyone help or know anyone who can help?

Quote:
Dear Friends,

I am writing with an unusual request. I urgently need to get in touch with someone flying from Bangkok to Dhaka in the next few days, who would be willing to carry a large parcel of pet food as excess baggage.

The food is for three tiger cubs who were rescued from poachers last month. The specialized food they need is not available in Bangladesh. We have bought the food but now need to have it transported to Dhaka.

We will pay excess baggage fees as well as all other costs involved in the transportation of the food.

The cubs have food until Monday.

HELP!

Dear Uncleji and Maysun, just logged in, very critical situation and could be devastating if fail to bring this food to them, which the cubs' caregivers already bought. Feel very helpless not being able to do anything from nyc at the moment. BUt if I were in DHaka and I had no other option, say nothing's coming up, I would without wasting any more time as the babies only have food till Monday, I would go to the Thai Airways' Dhaka office and request, beg a desperate immediate support from them to save these EXTINCT and still threatened Tigercubs, which Thailand also take a lot of pride in representing thyem and protecting them, AND something tells me, they might bring the food to Dhaka on courtesy. I know it is our responsibility first and formost, the cubs were poached/kidnapped/stolen from Bangladesh, by our people/poachers, so it is our responsibility to bring this already bought, very critical, desperately needed food to them. What about alerting the Poshu Ebong Bono Shompod Montronaloy, And Dept of Environmental Protection, or maybe not.

This is the story.

From BBC

Bangladesh police foil effort to to smuggle tiger cubs

It's thought that the cubs were going to be smuggled to Malaysia

Three rare Royal Bengal tiger cubs have been rescued from a smuggler in the Shyamoli area of the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka, police say.

Officers from the Rapid Action Battalion say that they arrested a person in possession of the cubs who was attempting to take them abroad.

It is thought that the cubs were captured from the south-western Sundarbans mangrove forests.

Police suspect they were going to be smuggled to Malaysia.

The cubs are said to be three months old.

A Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) team raided the building in Shyamoli Road after receiving a tip-off on Monday.

Police say the man arrested with the cubs could lead them to an organised gang responsible for smuggling cubs out of Bangladesh.
Last year a special force was set up to save the Royal Bengal tiger and other animals.

The 300-member force is deployed mostly around the Sundarbans, one of the last refuges of the tigers.

The decision came months after the authorities recovered three tiger skins and a large quantity of bones, the biggest haul of illegal tiger parts in decades.

The Sundarbans forests stretch between Bangladesh and India.

Around 400 tigers are thought still to live in the area.

I've seen airlines in the past take on unmanned baggage if a requisite fee has been paid and security and customs clearance complied with. In such an emergency situation, BK dada's suggestion may work out. Interested parties should get in touch with the Thai office in Dhaka and the HQ in Bangkok...

I feel so sad that there are only 400 tigers in the Sundarbans

OH! I forgot to mention...your friend could try to get the local Bangladesh Embassy to transport the emergency food parcels to Dhaka by diplomatic bag (it should be quite regular). Obviously, this is contingent on the food parcels being of a reasonable size but things like emergency medicine are transported by diplomatic bag relatively often. Given that this issue has received some national press coverage, Embassy officials might be inclined to comply - even if it's just to get some good publicity.

The embassy was 'sympathetic' but otherwise unhelpful.
