IMO BD team cant be too choosy who they pick. Tamim 1 out of 5 innings will make a decent score. Thats quite good if you look at most of the BD team. Also as so much is expected from him is that when he makes low scores fans react unforgivingly.

He is a hit or get out kind trying kind of batsman and he will never be able to change that mentality. However what he can work on is his fitness, which he doesnt bother to do.

Tamim and Anamul sat in the shajghor whole day today. I feel bad for them. They must have been very bored.

Tamim is still fairly consistent. We're not India (yet), we can't afford to drop a player of his calibre just to teach him a "lesson". Who will open? Imrul? Athar?

We should just realize that he ain't no match winner, at least in Tests. He will score 70s, 80s, and average 5-10 lower than his talent warrants. Thats still not bad, and if guys like Mushy, Nasir, Mominul, and Shakib develop into what they are projected to develop, then we'll compete with all subcontinent teams, and some others wit the bat. we just need a couple or 3 seamers who can join Robiul in at least being competant with a cherry in their hand. And hope that Gazi, Noor, Jubair, whoever can become decent spinners. All in all things look good. We just need better management and curators to give us a pitch catering to our strengths so we can beat the likes of WI, NZ at home and pound ZIM into the dust. The same way how ZIM will resort to even unsporting but perfectly legal methods to enforce home field advantage at Harare.

he has been much less consistent in the last 3 years, averaging just under 30 at 29.73 with no tons and only 4 half centuries from 19 innings. his career average is currently 36.54 from 55 innings. he was averaging over 40 but the last few years have really pushed down his average.

i agree we don't have the luxury of dropping a player the calibre of tamim, we haven't found any other openers who have been able to average 30+ consistently and despite him averaging under that in the last 3 years it is only just and this is the worst patch he's had in his test career. he's been good in domestic FC's over his career as well so i think he is still clearly our best talent/prospect in the top order (even better than anamul).

people may not agree but what i've seen from tamim over his career is that he is as good a talent as any around, he's got the ability to be right up their with the very best and has the talent to end his career as one of the best openers ever produced from the subcontinent region. he has come a long way from when he was that young 18 year old trying to make it in the national team who couldn't play leg side and couldn't make more than about 50 runs in an innings.

if Shohag Gazi and Abul Hasan can score a century, why can't you??(with all due respect to Shohag Gazi and Abul Hasan, they have done a great job with the bat so far when it was not expected of them)

^ In the last 3 years, Tamim has been our highest scorer in ODIs. So in the shorter formats, he's delivering. Unfortunately in Tests, he's been worse than our other main players, Shakib, Mushy and Nasir. And as you point out, he's been averaging just about 30 in Tests which is poor.

He's going to have to figure out what's going on with his batting in Tests. Once he reached that 40 mark, I thought he'd average in the mid 40s but instead, he's now averaging just in the mid 30s. He can still come back and I'm sure he will.

Well its a shame we always get 2 Test series...rule of thumb should be if you are not delivering as expected in 2 consecutive matches, you should be dropped from the third. Fortunately, TI has been getting away from this rule of thumb being applicable to him.

Might have something to do with the freshness of the meat, ie just cut. Or could be psychological. Whatever makes Tamim's bhuri bheri happy.

Jitte gele opener der upor bhorosha korle cholbe na. Maath e namte hobe assuming we're 0/2. Tarpor ball korte namte hobe assuming the opponent is 100/0, because our slow medium bowlers won't do jack. So basically, it's up to Mominul, Shakib, Mushy, Nasir and Shohag to make sure we get 650.
