Mark Waugh, commentating on the Fatullah Test in '06 said "I dont know much about this Nafees kid, but he's treated Shane Warne like he was a club bowler"

Who gets out on 97? This is the second instance of a Bangladeshi batsman out in the late 90'2 that come to mind - and both of them are from Ankur Cricket School so incredibly heartbreaking for us fellow Ankur men but well played Abeer bhai! He's one of the best players of spin bowling Bangladesh has seen, and it was good to see him in good touch.

About the wicket, it was a really really good delivery, and a batsman on 97 is always looking to score off the three to get it off his back, so I guess that caused his undoing.

One thing, when Abeer bhai is in good touch, he seems to carry it on. Counting on that

I went to sleep at 43/4 and expected the same shellacking we got in the last Test match but still hoping against hope Shakib and Nafees could carry us. I woke up and that's what exactly happened! Great innings by Nafees under pressure. A lot of critics including me were after him after some poor innings from him. Hopefully this gives him the much needed confidence going ahead and he can take some steps forward sealing that #3 spot for good. Congrats to Nafees and really hope he can continue the good work for us.

Guys, wake up early tomorrow before match as my common sense tells me that there will be an interview of SN.

oh no baby, dont cry, you can get 100 in 2nd innings, if u wish and just leave the ball that is outside the off-stump,make shots wholeheartedly, dont make kochha, nothig in pad. you will get it inshallah.Well done for the first innings.

A worthy walk

Mohammad Isam
A long walk can do wonders to a man's perception.
When Shahriar Nafees found no mode of transport to reach the team hotel after completing his Premier League transfer on Thursday evening, he and younger brother Iftekhar Nayeem walked from the Bangabandhu National Stadium to Shahbagh. During the 45-minute sojourn through the capital's busiest area at that hectic hour on the most chaotic of days, Nafees went unrecognised as he tried to find a way to reach the hotel on time.
Afterwards, he spoke of how difficult it is for the commoners to find a way home, especially when the need most arises. It is quite certain that Nafees didn't score 97 yesterday in the second Test against Pakistan because he walked for so long (maybe his footwork was helped a bit) and he gritted it out in the streets.
But his fight with a moving ball, under dank conditions and against a rampant bowling attack was quite similar to the battle of finding a bus at 6:00pm in Motijheel in the dark and in front of a few thousand people vying for one seat.
More at DS...

Shariar Nafees is the man after 2006, I haven't seen him play a decent innings until that 97. Heart breaking to see him get out like that though poor thing

The thread should have been opened by Abirz, you stole his glory magicboy. Well played by Bangladeshi Lara, too bad couldn't get his century, maybe in 2nd Innings. Hope he bashes that Cheema, don't like his attitude.

Continuity is key, but you already knew that. I like Nafees, but not when he acts like a Mofees, which is most of the time. He can be one of the top order solutions, just needs to want it bad enough. Seems like he did in the first inning.

SN does have a lot of ability. As he showed last innings, he's a strokemaker and is a treat to watch once he gets going. His problem mainly has been the ability to play the moving ball and ends up being really edgy and tentative. Also his footwork is not the best. If he can improve on these parts of his game then he can be a good batsman at this level. He needs to start being consistent. After those 2 fifties he hit agains Australia, he's been really poor. Hopefully this innings gives him the confidence going forward and he can start making strides to sealing the #3 spot. Consistency is key for him.

Technique wise SN is not a good batsman. He is too much edgy. But among Kayes,SN and Junaid probably SN is the best.He is most senior and experienced among them.Though technically he is poor but I have some sympathy for this guy only cause is once he get a start he look better. He is an educated smart cricketer he has put himself down to #3.That was a very good decision for him.I hope he will learn how to play the deliveries outside off stump with foot work or how to leave it.

Nafees is unlucky to be given out also. The height was too much for giving LBW. The replay clearly shown it.
