Height is almost a prerequisite to make an impact, at least in Test matches.
I agree with most of your posts, but you are totally wrong about a prime Malinga in odis, you have to look at when he bowled, his stats does not show how much of a match winner Malinga was, you need to win a match you're picking Malinga over morne and gul, match has got tight you're picking Malinga, opponent needs 20 off 18 you're picking Malinga, that's like saying Drogba was a crap striker because his goal rate barring one season was crap, he was a world class striker because he was as good as anyone in big games and big situations, as is Malinga. In odis Malinga was one of the greats in his prime

In test matches your comment stands.

The way I look at it: ebadat is a good prospect, with promising attributes which may with work develop him into a world class bowler.

He is in the A team so if he performs well for the A team he should be considered for the national team. Can't just ignore someone if they are performing for the A team especially when his role in the national team is not being properly fulfilled.

However, what performance at A team level is enough to warrant a national team call up?

Ebadat already looks better than Taskin and Shafiul combined. Judging by his economy and wickets, he hits good line and length.

Taskin has regressed, shaiful was never really much good, haven't seen enough of ebadat but as said if he performs then he should be considered.

Good consistent pace, results are the important thing though.

135-140 is decent pace. As long as he can take wickets doesnt really matter how quick he is.

he should be given his Test cap next series we play.

It was a dusty wicket, can reach 140s-145s in England/SA

In Ebadat's case his pace is not the reason he warrants selection. He warrants selection because apart from Fizz we don't have any fast bowler capable of taking wickets in Tests. Based on a couple deliveries, I would say Ebadat deserves a cap instead taking toothless bowlers like Rubel, Taskin, Shafiul, or Roy.

A 23 yo bowler reaching 140 is nothing special. Taskin was reaching 145 at the age of 18 or 19, there was a real hope he would cross the 150 barrier.

Apart, from that Pakistan Asia Cup spell, Taskin has not consistently reach 140s.

Depends on how you define consistently. Taskin has hit 140 on a greater percentage of his deliveries than any other BD bowler before or after him. Includes, Rubel, Shahadat and anyone else. I say that with a fair degree of confidence. I might even some speed data on my MacBook from the 2015 World Cup.

Point is, pace isnt the reason to be excited about Ebadat. There are two reasons:

1) our pacers (barring Mustafiz) suck and
2) about time we get some non-Bengalis in the team

Forgive me if this is a stupid question... who are the non-bengalis?

The issue with ebadat is that he’s been above average but not spectacular and he’s played a very small number of matches.

6 FC matches, average of 28, no 4fers, no 5fers. From the little I’ve seen of him I’ve liked his style but does it get results? Some players do debut whilst inexperienced so I wouldn’t necessarily put it against him, just that we need to be pretty confident that he will succeed if we are to elevate him to that level in the near future before he is experienced.

Against south africa last year he was bowling well into 140s, hitting 145-148 few times too, further he averaged 140.2 in a world cup game and that was with a handful of slower deliveries at 105-110

He bowled consistently quick vs new zealand in champions trophy too

You'll be disappointed if you think Ebadat will be quicker than taskin on the long run

I don't think ebadat should be trying to bowl out and out fast, if he can bowl these speeds consistently but it's within himself then he can be more of a nagging line and length bowler trying to bowl at the top of off stump.

With our pitches and reliance on SLAs, hardly any pacer will get many 4+ hauls. The average and strike rate would be the most relevant factors for selection. Ebadat may not be the answer but like Taskin, we dont have any choice but to try him. he is 23...plenty old mature enough for a debut.

Default ***Ebadat Hossain***

Fastest bowler in the country?
First impression? Seems to have good control. Bowls decent line and length.

Pace? Clicked 140+, averages around 135kph.

Khalid bowled one at 147 km/h or there was a mistake in the speed metre. However he did bowl a few deliveries that also showed 140+

Ebadat seems faster than Khaled and sprays the ball less than him , he seems a far better option than Khaled atm who just conceded 50 runs in 3 overs.
